It has been a lot of fun. and i have sewn some blocks that I never would have otherwise.<br />
The other night, I mailed my last three blocks away. It was such a relief, but I also know that I'm going to miss doing it, and getting them in the mail. <br />
This coming year will be weird as I will be sewing just for me. Imagine : )<br />
<br />
I have been busy finishing up some stocking stuffers. As usual it's the last minute...........<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy9d-OLVYR7B-Rno_IB54Nyg-rqMRaFEuYCpMe0d7znfj9VgnGeZJ50vp42gmsfDdmb3tBy9EjWbBa08bSiTS7wLd7Qb9WaRQDoOOHKueCVSDE5GgWzu9yzd-yHHswFEVqndIbaH1UuAw/s1600/IMG_4598.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy9d-OLVYR7B-Rno_IB54Nyg-rqMRaFEuYCpMe0d7znfj9VgnGeZJ50vp42gmsfDdmb3tBy9EjWbBa08bSiTS7wLd7Qb9WaRQDoOOHKueCVSDE5GgWzu9yzd-yHHswFEVqndIbaH1UuAw/s640/IMG_4598.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
For my grand daughters I decided on a first pair of skates for Christmas. Of course they will need some accessories, so I made mittens. Those two are all about the sparkle, so I have done the cuff out of some 'tinsel' yarn<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_0cIJxadtyE8N9f88FmBEZu5zpy-LqTuqeeuWbr4XgBaU_cUj1Ff7yyZ5Yy4YKuAUAb7AY26W6YmNqTkWjsnmm7pj42izhyNHV4ERipopdK9dzFonIJHyP6JVBk_buP81splidGhOvB0/s1600/IMG_4600.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_0cIJxadtyE8N9f88FmBEZu5zpy-LqTuqeeuWbr4XgBaU_cUj1Ff7yyZ5Yy4YKuAUAb7AY26W6YmNqTkWjsnmm7pj42izhyNHV4ERipopdK9dzFonIJHyP6JVBk_buP81splidGhOvB0/s640/IMG_4600.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Little miss 'J's are nearly done. Her hands are no bigger than her baby brother's so I had to adjust the pattern some. They are so tiny!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg92gASUBUP5IlsWhqMPhklXSvWZznBiDyiJE01CALD3EP7gMMiP2CosJHJCKP7LSPvu1YJJ6zfSjaJWPUK6CVY4iUtJ2ziHcNOmtNhl1YMxmvZXGRbDnPN1OUljob40tiY7bQF0-zIpoI/s1600/FullSizeRender+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg92gASUBUP5IlsWhqMPhklXSvWZznBiDyiJE01CALD3EP7gMMiP2CosJHJCKP7LSPvu1YJJ6zfSjaJWPUK6CVY4iUtJ2ziHcNOmtNhl1YMxmvZXGRbDnPN1OUljob40tiY7bQF0-zIpoI/s640/FullSizeRender+4.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Their mom and dad have built a doll house and are trying to furnish it. My daughter in law asked me for a duvet cover for a twig bed they have built. She wanted 'soft'. I really had to dig for this fabric as most of my stash is now modern. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdIAr5P7_gD95dz4oPf3PMAEpqqONwRKGUb0GxxjAMPQFNLVnZXkE7D2Z_k6BZzraqy552Ys0HT5VsLg2Ir5utgFYsWojr3CKl8RHJoQ05dgiGTMLLYWQtUMeOTb7KxdVPb4nY3keL054/s1600/IMG_4604.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdIAr5P7_gD95dz4oPf3PMAEpqqONwRKGUb0GxxjAMPQFNLVnZXkE7D2Z_k6BZzraqy552Ys0HT5VsLg2Ir5utgFYsWojr3CKl8RHJoQ05dgiGTMLLYWQtUMeOTb7KxdVPb4nY3keL054/s640/IMG_4604.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
I tied it with embroidery floss and added some buttons across the top. I hope she likes it<br />
<br />

<br />
I have wanted to make this little pot holder all year! My son moved out and I had intended to make him a bunch of stuff. I hope he's forgotten...............<br />
<br />
This is why I haven't been sewing. Ever since I opened the shop, my sewing room has become a dumping ground. I'll give you just a peek<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It is soooooo overwhelming that I can hardly breathe when I go in there. So I don't. This Christmas day and boxing day my hubby works, so I plan on spending two days in there shoveling. That is going to feel so very good.<br />
<br />
Merry Christmas to me!!!!<br />
<br />
I'll leave you with something that's not a mess. A picture of one side of my little shop.<br />
<br />

<br />
We moved a couple of displays to make room for more inventory that is coming. I'm pretty full now and things are going great. So very blessed : )<br />
<br />
Merry Christmas to all of you dear readers. I will see you in the new year !<br />

This will be my life until about February. Cold, dark, and snowy : ( <br />
<br />
I've never been a fan of winter, but let's have it so we can get it over with ! I will keep myself busy by sewing and knitting the months away. <br />
<br />
I made Cindy's block for November. She is doing the words from a song she loves. I thought the music note fabric was a perfect background for her word.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo8B4yzKT429xwa94juWOkW8cq-Hil3AikBOZf5hZXlEPw9MPCv4ATBdiY2dzqOgJ4drYD5bh0XPhrXWjKbJLlXZ4lnRL5rYtz0-ZU_XxChrocJXHWpoLsSlEW_lAF0-njTq71gqAsaJE/s1600/IMG_4509.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo8B4yzKT429xwa94juWOkW8cq-Hil3AikBOZf5hZXlEPw9MPCv4ATBdiY2dzqOgJ4drYD5bh0XPhrXWjKbJLlXZ4lnRL5rYtz0-ZU_XxChrocJXHWpoLsSlEW_lAF0-njTq71gqAsaJE/s640/IMG_4509.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I finished the sweater and hat for a little guy to be born this month. This is yarn from Sackville NB and it is dreamy to work with<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioviA5Cm9yhJLo9fVqFZmAa7PVzvO_coKcWPA1sX3ub2E1gFZpI1WeNReJ_tl1ZQyGMrp71H6XhWC5xRn6tnRcB2c20EW6BAI1FsAbye9W20Gw64b-EiPW4fnY63bS8QzUK-dhahEjHDg/s1600/FullSizeRender+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioviA5Cm9yhJLo9fVqFZmAa7PVzvO_coKcWPA1sX3ub2E1gFZpI1WeNReJ_tl1ZQyGMrp71H6XhWC5xRn6tnRcB2c20EW6BAI1FsAbye9W20Gw64b-EiPW4fnY63bS8QzUK-dhahEjHDg/s640/FullSizeRender+3.jpg" width="502" /></a></div>
<br />
The colour is sweet potato, and the hat is made from a Koigu yarn<br />
<br />

<br />
My little grand girls have been asking me for fingerless mitts a long time. It snowed, so that motivated me to get going. 1 down.......<br />
<br />
The winner of the note cards is Soma! I will pop those in the mail to you this week. Please e-mail me your address : ) Thank you to every one who entered as well.<br />
<br />
Have a great week<br />

I think both. November is nearly done and we all know what that means.<br />
<br />
*******a little business to start. There were a few comments last post about the slippers etc that I couldn't reply to because you have no e-mail address on your google account. Nothing. Zip. I tried, I really did : ( I will do a proper post soon and include a link to the pattern ok?<br />
<br />
I changed my window out again for the season. This was a lot of fun. My son welded me a little girl out of re-bar that I could dress up in winter things. I love her. <br />
<br />

My needles are rarely idle while sitting. This little sweater is for a friends niece who is having a baby in December. A little boy. I will make a hat to match which will finish off his outfit nicely : )<br />
<br />
Did you like the note cards? How about a chance to win a half dozen. 2 of each design.<br />
Leave me a comment to be entered and how about tell me how your Christmas prep is coming? <br />
<br />
Make sure I can get ahold of you : )<br />
<br />
Have a fabulous week!<br />

My grade three school teacher taught me how to knit by making slippers. Recently, I saw some very similar slippers posted on Instagram and had all the memories come flooding back.<br />
<br />
I've been teaching beginner knitting at my shop and thought, ''wouldn't it be fun to teach others to knit making the same project I learned some 45 years ago'' ? ( 45!!!) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This little slipped stitch edge adds just the right touch. My next beginner class starts this Thursday and I'm looking forward to telling them all about how I started knitting on slippers almost exactly like this : )<br />
<br />
Enjoy your week. It's going to be a busy one!<br />

I actually found the time to sit and write a bit in this space. I have missed being here... the interaction with you<br />
<br />
Since I last posted I have been kept busy with family things and my shop. Thank you to all who commented about my Mother's stroke. She is still battling fatigue, but is so much better. Not back to bowling yet, but soon. This is Mom at my grand babe's 1st birthday party. She looks tired, but still likes to look her best : )<br />

Saturday I had a 'Food for Fiber' sale. It was very well attended and we collected a lot of food and raised some cash for a local charity. Customers received 25% off if they brought a food item or tossed me a townie. I'm thinking of making this an annual thing. So much fun!<br />

And, this bad boy is quilted. Happy dance! Now the task of making the binding, but I do enjoy that part. Hand sewing it is a favourite because I get to snuggle under it in the process. <br />
<br />
Thanks for reading today. It was nice to chat again : )<br />

She was having a stroke. Thankfully, I knew what was happening and called 911. Fast forward to today, and Mom is home and doing amazingly well. She has no lasting effects from the stroke except fatigue. For this I am eternally grateful. She will slowly build up her strength until she is back to normal. My mother is nearly 83 and very active. She plans to be back to her bowling league sooner than later : )<br />
<br />
Sunday afternoon while the house was quiet, I decided to tackle the borders on Metro Area. I hadn't touched my machine in two weeks and it felt so good to be sewing again. I find it very relaxing.<br />

This quilt is a big one. 90" square. Now I hope to put it in the capable hands of my long arm quilter so she can work her magic on it. <br />
<br />
More about that later. <br />
Happy stitching and thanks for reading.<br />

<br />
For the most part, these quilts were made from scraps that were laying around the floor, sewing table, and wherever else I can stuff them. It felt great to be using up and not buying. The backings were yardage I had in my backing cupboard. <a href="http://www.lindasquiltmania.blogspot.com/">Linda</a> did lovely free motion on one, while I did straight lines on the other. If you would like to know cutting measurement etc. the original post is <a href="http://carla-graceandfavour.blogspot.ca/2016/07/a-girlie-quilt.html">here </a><br />

I finished my bulky sweater the other day. I soaked it in some no rinse solution, and it took 2 days to dry. It smells so lovely and feels very soft.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdZe5BM7OahaDFSnPsug1k5C_s6KAuo9U5G1mVUo_i4A3iS_5shTW_crPApKwtiB6ht4mQskeLlhWQUPBW-xoxzYVGY8zugqpWB0Fg4yu5ZN3UglB_5BDV5cexF19NXaqO85oLk8p9ujw/s1600/IMG_4142.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdZe5BM7OahaDFSnPsug1k5C_s6KAuo9U5G1mVUo_i4A3iS_5shTW_crPApKwtiB6ht4mQskeLlhWQUPBW-xoxzYVGY8zugqpWB0Fg4yu5ZN3UglB_5BDV5cexF19NXaqO85oLk8p9ujw/s640/IMG_4142.jpg" width="494" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
I started with a very basic top down cardigan pattern and made some changes. For one, the yarn is Cascade Magnum and it's knit on a 10mm needle. This yarn is meant to behave like the buffalo wool we used to see sweaters made from. Then, I googled 'whale chart patterns' and got a whole page full. Once I had an idea, I drew up a chart to fit my number of stitches.<br />

The rolled collar with be extra cozy in winter. I haven't had a baby to try this on, but I'm thinking it will fit about a 2 year old<br />

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and would definitely make another. We will see if someone wants one or not. Next up -- a hat!<br />
<br />
Happy stitching and thanks for stopping by.Carlahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16927477648248371423noreply@blogger.com22tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7731490867433873756.post-75571186156536391712016-08-17T06:50:00.000-07:002016-08-17T06:50:14.549-07:00FINISHES !How is your summer going? My most recent finishes won't come in useful until winter, but I feel good about being ahead of the game. <br />
I made another 'Gellatly' hat. This time I used yarn from Lichen & Lace from Sackville New Brunswick. Ohhhhh it feels wonderful.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My daughter gets this one.<br />
<br />
These socks. How cute are they? I can just imagine my little grand babe having toasty toes. The yarn is Zauberball from Germany.<br />

Not to forget the rest of my family, I canned peaches this year! I never crack open a jar until the snow flies. So worth the wait : )<br />

I finished my bee blocks I was re-doing. Now you can see how the first time I made the 'yellow' block, the white wasn't quite white. I feel much better about sending the block now. Sally, is for another member<br />

and then it was time to get cleaned up. Too cute!<br />
<br />
Enjoy your week. Thank you for stopping by.<br />
Hello to Alison who reads from New Zealand, and to Kim who reads in Tasmania, and Susan who reads in Australia! So fun to connect with people with just the click of a button.<br />
<br />Carlahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16927477648248371423noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7731490867433873756.post-5546388072967744202016-08-08T19:00:00.001-07:002016-08-08T19:00:56.705-07:00WHEN BEE BLOCKS GO BAD........they can go really bad. I was running behind last month because it seems someone took out a few of the days. Last time I checked, it was June : )<br />
<br />
This block is (was) for Simone. She asked for coloured words pieced in different colours. I pieced this one in a dark purple as requested, and with a white background. Or so I thought.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-KZ5FWVue0D78_rAG6L4LXnoACt0zIZBJXI2H_PndtOi7vd3W3odfMAy7C4KOLpoVEZ10sBvMhWmT8jOIW5Z4EPVeqETIfDKOm2OJi_HF5GXMYIY41IBgm0SjHLV7jnjlOkn62LUn03E/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="620" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-KZ5FWVue0D78_rAG6L4LXnoACt0zIZBJXI2H_PndtOi7vd3W3odfMAy7C4KOLpoVEZ10sBvMhWmT8jOIW5Z4EPVeqETIfDKOm2OJi_HF5GXMYIY41IBgm0SjHLV7jnjlOkn62LUn03E/s640/FullSizeRender.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
When I went digging through my whites to piece another block, I discovered that the white I used wasn't really the stark white she had wanted. It's slightly off. Back to the drawing board : (<br />
<br />
Remember these blocks? I was so happy with how they turned out. Especially my 'e'. They never arrived in Australia. In all the years I have been swapping bee blocks I don't think that's ever happened.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Susan has been so patient. I have started making them again.<br />

<br />
I love me some log cabin blocks. I'm late with these. These were fun. Fun enough that I made some for myself too. It seemed easier to make blocks than to clean up my scraps. True story<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheI3vBZIYzipDfn9ZriKWnw-IuX3k-FEf3uecp8i9cwoUcJAe7zWtcdvBd0t_-FtoLGoX6_0AnkqeH-RTjIrBIzhsIlJromM_78XCDQiyljIlMX7QDkVypGJ-Net8lhfNcBakutGmorvg/s1600/IMG_4014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheI3vBZIYzipDfn9ZriKWnw-IuX3k-FEf3uecp8i9cwoUcJAe7zWtcdvBd0t_-FtoLGoX6_0AnkqeH-RTjIrBIzhsIlJromM_78XCDQiyljIlMX7QDkVypGJ-Net8lhfNcBakutGmorvg/s640/IMG_4014.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly these blocks are for this month. Yay! Mary wanted watery colours with a 'white' background.<br />
I think I got these right<br />

I've got to say, running a business takes ALL the time. I don't have much time for anything else. It's still fun though and I'm glad I took the plunge : )<br />
<br />
Happy stitching!<br />

Together we have pieced 75 blocks. Lots of templates, cutting and a little ripping brings us to the end of our year. Here are the last two sets of blocks<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGfGHrMDPwBBiVxKm_WiSg7BrA-N7WjjHN7ItSpHwJgm7zZ_uXqtU7Ioo8l-kh_sV2GZgO2ue9S5N8-A0i6CoPMF-WB-6nOdI_vob1WY0-rZW84v65WY4QA2YKQNZF2GhZhrXSc_byxyk/s1600/IMG_3995.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGfGHrMDPwBBiVxKm_WiSg7BrA-N7WjjHN7ItSpHwJgm7zZ_uXqtU7Ioo8l-kh_sV2GZgO2ue9S5N8-A0i6CoPMF-WB-6nOdI_vob1WY0-rZW84v65WY4QA2YKQNZF2GhZhrXSc_byxyk/s640/IMG_3995.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
We had a holiday here so I actually had time to sew. I started sewing the blocks into rows and I got this far<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_vPolOadEcLzAbCHHch0tk0ySqhTWRpmr78Nm8Tybo7VOrp_LjrGhswN0wFMXgQyCvcCMJf_i38-3MLPt6QM_f-4YpkDZp7Uc5JApq_ltV7cRr-C3-zIQZKAVA-tZR5Oct1fpks4IKho/s1600/IMG_4001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_vPolOadEcLzAbCHHch0tk0ySqhTWRpmr78Nm8Tybo7VOrp_LjrGhswN0wFMXgQyCvcCMJf_i38-3MLPt6QM_f-4YpkDZp7Uc5JApq_ltV7cRr-C3-zIQZKAVA-tZR5Oct1fpks4IKho/s640/IMG_4001.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
excuse the clutter---the other side is worse : /<br />
Two more rows of blocks and then borders. Yay!<br />
<br />
I had the most gorgeous order of yarn come in last week, and ever since I have been craving cheesecake. This is Lichen and Lace from Sackville New Brunswick. I drooled for 3 days, and then I caved in. It was worth it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
............and this picture is for Karen lol! <br />

It's now quilted with beautiful texture but I have yet to do the binding. I love doing binding so I should get around to it soon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgElzPt_80MiLuI6f7y6l4Vw2MepxZCKgK0k6Y-kUxnXMDa7uVhCHBKM02XnSZJh3bgHAuxDoL9lyn8QZl_9Z72bwhDwKrNNk45RE1RVd2utuag-2zxEqT6_k3HhncpPJXxN5Z2mPBIsVw/s1600/IMG_3944.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgElzPt_80MiLuI6f7y6l4Vw2MepxZCKgK0k6Y-kUxnXMDa7uVhCHBKM02XnSZJh3bgHAuxDoL9lyn8QZl_9Z72bwhDwKrNNk45RE1RVd2utuag-2zxEqT6_k3HhncpPJXxN5Z2mPBIsVw/s640/IMG_3944.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm enjoying puttering on the second one now<br />
<br />
I finished the slouchy hat and my daughter agreed to model it for me : )<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9u262J6dvD0XoDCBvXPiJSZt9gRJ6Lg5C-E9PHmPY84ej4XZUlm8TQuznhW8BEK4Z4TBDJwB-FiU_IuWObenzztJ-fQg5YT9sReKxoYgt9pm8RG8hklZ1QzS8NTVMllJmpp9ymNuUCZI/s1600/FullSizeRender+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9u262J6dvD0XoDCBvXPiJSZt9gRJ6Lg5C-E9PHmPY84ej4XZUlm8TQuznhW8BEK4Z4TBDJwB-FiU_IuWObenzztJ-fQg5YT9sReKxoYgt9pm8RG8hklZ1QzS8NTVMllJmpp9ymNuUCZI/s640/FullSizeRender+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This girl.............love her<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPz-0CgbAKxO-Tq_lanKnFcykoogmlQ1Ney1i5txqZsUbuhKS79XeSArJZr5b7_2-YyHhfRL1vAMilOdueYx9O2rbjtxJkC8fubN8pFo93T4-qYklczHbip7BY04iMt7pQ37ljrB4vmHk/s1600/IMG_3957.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPz-0CgbAKxO-Tq_lanKnFcykoogmlQ1Ney1i5txqZsUbuhKS79XeSArJZr5b7_2-YyHhfRL1vAMilOdueYx9O2rbjtxJkC8fubN8pFo93T4-qYklczHbip7BY04iMt7pQ37ljrB4vmHk/s640/IMG_3957.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The texture shows so well with the reverse stocking stitch. My daughter wants one now but in a turquoise yarn. I have just the one!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF0BmdP1OvJdG67FnQyk1WAm-MLYgSynjGlZZyFneQjOx_xlmlBgVlfqX0yaFeib2v5SzPfx3K-kHxuo9TUzxLb4eq9FoKyYXtp4t-17kaW4NJ_eFb9C1j122VwCoO-JAbvltDZtNyU8k/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF0BmdP1OvJdG67FnQyk1WAm-MLYgSynjGlZZyFneQjOx_xlmlBgVlfqX0yaFeib2v5SzPfx3K-kHxuo9TUzxLb4eq9FoKyYXtp4t-17kaW4NJ_eFb9C1j122VwCoO-JAbvltDZtNyU8k/s640/FullSizeRender.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
These little socks are so fun to knit. The pattern is 'rose city rollers' and is free. The yarn is by Smith and Ewe here in town in the 'liquorice candy' colour way. I added in the orange<br />
<br />
And lastly, this little hoodie. Oh my goodness I just love it ! The yarn is Merino and Alpaca. It will be so cozy, soft and warm for a baby<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We've finally got us some summer here so I am loving it. <br />
I finished the quilt top for my grand daughter and have blocks cut for the second one. She likes pink so I hope I chose enough for the quilt : )<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOVFVharOslWLwyFRwKUcZAW2lITY5L7hPGi4lH_HHonuipVZaFSumrW-uaA7n-NQNBuiLH58ujAwqO3AHU54etXnAOoRp0vPPjvu05nEwyQy7iFR3528GBJAqXYrDFr6elP6u5C1hcIY/s1600/IMG_3892.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOVFVharOslWLwyFRwKUcZAW2lITY5L7hPGi4lH_HHonuipVZaFSumrW-uaA7n-NQNBuiLH58ujAwqO3AHU54etXnAOoRp0vPPjvu05nEwyQy7iFR3528GBJAqXYrDFr6elP6u5C1hcIY/s640/IMG_3892.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
I started a slouchy hat for the shop. This is from the Okanagan Knit Co. in Kelowna and is available on revelry. She bought the yarn for her sample from my shop, so I thought I would make my sample out of the same Malabrigo yarn<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEjJyPUdecZLbVb9-tbd5nNSsG3hbWdnYg0G7O7WYTNj9AVBTJBs05Kz1VehP8KJ1Zd_5YJWoNE66wFUBwbhlNymxS9AJ6HEqXgnLn5PZTlLwDPflBIcfTdR1BYcmXo4QOtfmcH74oeLs/s1600/IMG_3894.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEjJyPUdecZLbVb9-tbd5nNSsG3hbWdnYg0G7O7WYTNj9AVBTJBs05Kz1VehP8KJ1Zd_5YJWoNE66wFUBwbhlNymxS9AJ6HEqXgnLn5PZTlLwDPflBIcfTdR1BYcmXo4QOtfmcH74oeLs/s640/IMG_3894.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This yarn is so beautiful to work with and shows the texture of the knitting really well.<br />
<br />
And, because there is always left over yarn, I started a pair of baby socks<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVj-ZJcdJYy2pnGhUmRNV10S-Jco6kweL2U4_IygIYYmXipN3sEsUrawTZT6tQ6Jz9CZ6da2MJAQbCLpAm5zr0GKHYwEtxmjvmN5gBoe1Pz5YeEx_65it90vDR0ZJDENxdKvOztLfFuv4/s1600/P1110886.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVj-ZJcdJYy2pnGhUmRNV10S-Jco6kweL2U4_IygIYYmXipN3sEsUrawTZT6tQ6Jz9CZ6da2MJAQbCLpAm5zr0GKHYwEtxmjvmN5gBoe1Pz5YeEx_65it90vDR0ZJDENxdKvOztLfFuv4/s640/P1110886.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm just about at the point of a colour change in the yarn, so the next sock will be different. Such saturated colours in this Zauberball yarn<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW-xMwUWlVMp2s57JEuzSfXlmLApBqZjfI5K02nVfzPi4pKD6JvHLJPNCsBIjniczw9pCy-CYSoYThzaAMMgQXIMgUVblgRvD3upsCB7ViMZnBcRGk7VGT5Gk56KiZ-YQyNInN413jAlk/s1600/P1110888.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW-xMwUWlVMp2s57JEuzSfXlmLApBqZjfI5K02nVfzPi4pKD6JvHLJPNCsBIjniczw9pCy-CYSoYThzaAMMgQXIMgUVblgRvD3upsCB7ViMZnBcRGk7VGT5Gk56KiZ-YQyNInN413jAlk/s640/P1110888.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Toasty toes for some little guy next winter : )<br />
<br />
Happy stitching this week!<br />

Her first quilt is a bit tattered (which I'm happy about)<br />
<br />
I started with these<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy_0MagHsPDfQODO-eJz8F81WiZk5Lu-ImbqhnNldXgbS4yJLooFYB0JEmCLhMOXfsVdmA7_2W7lhtKe_9DJXQyva1fESC0m3R8EGVOcoLgT2uTTdajeF0sF7fPLgESwuF7MuyNDmGXWc/s1600/P1110871.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="444" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy_0MagHsPDfQODO-eJz8F81WiZk5Lu-ImbqhnNldXgbS4yJLooFYB0JEmCLhMOXfsVdmA7_2W7lhtKe_9DJXQyva1fESC0m3R8EGVOcoLgT2uTTdajeF0sF7fPLgESwuF7MuyNDmGXWc/s640/P1110871.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGVQ40HLAOTHjviTlys4ZqBa7s1Rj_WYd_2BvivqaWB9J9iNO0q-TsxwArR5sxsIfGRMIComublyJoXUd-I6nC0vWFHAmyrXJelxP7ev2phbw63EUlxtNNL39pAq-CmZJBS3_3urWSluw/s1600/P1110872.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGVQ40HLAOTHjviTlys4ZqBa7s1Rj_WYd_2BvivqaWB9J9iNO0q-TsxwArR5sxsIfGRMIComublyJoXUd-I6nC0vWFHAmyrXJelxP7ev2phbw63EUlxtNNL39pAq-CmZJBS3_3urWSluw/s640/P1110872.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I pulled a couple of fat quarters from a bundle I had never touched, but the rest came from my scraps<br />

A couple of evenings playing around and this is what I have. I tried to keep it quite girlie and found things that I know she likes<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Horses, frogs, butterflies and pink! While I was cutting, I made sure to cut extra blocks because I have a feeling her little sister is going to need one too : )<br />
<br />
It feels good to be playing around in my sewing room just for fun. Here's hoping I can stick with it and get it done this week -- the top anyway<br />
<br />
Happy stitching!<br />

<br />
These were the first to arrive<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
There was lots of knitting and chatter throughout the day.<br />
<br />
The night before, I was getting my nails done and telling the girl about the knitting in public day and she asked if I would like a ball of yarn on one nail. Well...yes I would !<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHw64OyoDUw34QzZ5sd4AZNHthVvQTS3GvWB0I3cD5h4TFxO9i_RUikMBas_3WBkiuXU7RBnh3Xq1QVW8VM8yAfI2yt7qi0j5-3YwPI4pF6RHVKRDT5LwYf8KtXQZ2Km8X6laFFtG9HBo/s1600/IMG_3809.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHw64OyoDUw34QzZ5sd4AZNHthVvQTS3GvWB0I3cD5h4TFxO9i_RUikMBas_3WBkiuXU7RBnh3Xq1QVW8VM8yAfI2yt7qi0j5-3YwPI4pF6RHVKRDT5LwYf8KtXQZ2Km8X6laFFtG9HBo/s640/IMG_3809.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I also had cupcakes made for the occasion with knitting needles on top<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdcb6g4DjJAbDTJBaVhutNaSlBpS925qabiPbaf6Cx-SZpVJh0UdVFgSaf9mGY5z4FN-RV8FErfIq3AnfuV2nBD4L_3bDRzqzGJkPPEZmzTX7mfZ3-_6MoMkw92CDByiKWZZnbqX5ZWFY/s1600/IMG_3810.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdcb6g4DjJAbDTJBaVhutNaSlBpS925qabiPbaf6Cx-SZpVJh0UdVFgSaf9mGY5z4FN-RV8FErfIq3AnfuV2nBD4L_3bDRzqzGJkPPEZmzTX7mfZ3-_6MoMkw92CDByiKWZZnbqX5ZWFY/s640/IMG_3810.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
I managed a picture before they were all gobbled up : )<br />
<br />
My only finish for the week is this little veggie hat. I think I'll call it a beet. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
What about you? Did you participate in Knit in Public day? I'm thinking maybe <a href="http://sarahlizzies.blogspot.ca/">Kim</a> did : )<br />
<br />
Enjoy your week.<br />

I got all my bee blocks sewn this past week so my slate is clear : )<br />
<br />
Susan in Australia is getting these words for her Spelling bee quilt<br />
It just so happens they match my current knitting project so I took a picture<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I'm pretty happy with my little 'e'<br />

<br />
Kerry asked for this 'Yukon' block. She moved to Canada recently from the UK and is making a sort of map quilt. It will be a pixelated style so she made up her own style of letters and had us follow that<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Rene down in Florida gets this 'strawberry kiss' block in blue. This is a fun block to sew and easy peasy<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMr0QQN5srjJw9YeigEmwZAueE-_el9IHC1kq53UaG_JOpm2kbFhg-PvGRsZXPgvazU5ezm5eOLeWQDVf8p9ASX5-DxfGkJax1PX1VuUAdZUPPbiPe6Sy6uV-pnCPr21ICSU1mpzNqsmo/s1600/P1110853.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMr0QQN5srjJw9YeigEmwZAueE-_el9IHC1kq53UaG_JOpm2kbFhg-PvGRsZXPgvazU5ezm5eOLeWQDVf8p9ASX5-DxfGkJax1PX1VuUAdZUPPbiPe6Sy6uV-pnCPr21ICSU1mpzNqsmo/s640/P1110853.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally, these churndash blocks are making their way to my house. I love this block in any way shape or form, so that's what I asked the ladies to make in my Mid Century Modern group. My current favourite colour combo is plum/mustard so some of them have that : )<br />
<br />

Enjoy this coming week. I am really hoping to carve out some sewing time. I have blocks to make for last month yet. Oh dear.........<br />
<br />
CarlaCarlahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16927477648248371423noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7731490867433873756.post-25325322141776282362016-05-28T08:27:00.001-07:002016-05-28T08:27:27.525-07:00A 'SWEET' POSTI must be craving sugar. Right now I am all about the candy colours : )<br />
Remember this 'creamsicle' shawl? Well I finished it and I just love it. It goes with what's left of my red hair. It's greying fast these days.......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxXdAWs3Baq7qKe2Cs6Wwv6cG3H287GY5bYIce3ARzR29XHtU9LcNKrzeWj1QFXiC2vq6mW3WiOlsZ2VYUX9BUimiq1PdRpQnjcbDBe4KrAhToZeHwqrAlrBleCFnwF13yCWkpBAo8XO8/s1600/P1110824.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxXdAWs3Baq7qKe2Cs6Wwv6cG3H287GY5bYIce3ARzR29XHtU9LcNKrzeWj1QFXiC2vq6mW3WiOlsZ2VYUX9BUimiq1PdRpQnjcbDBe4KrAhToZeHwqrAlrBleCFnwF13yCWkpBAo8XO8/s640/P1110824.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6tEjQF12uNpVgjH8PEozbIxljZz3YMFSUoiahV8aYL0MHu4yD3196FbvxGZTKwMgqlraVoMfWOIWUAJlB4fp0Jiw7k3nGrl1y9Nhgo1H8gk5rumtTcifCSreIy285YscnrQNsO9Iyp_0/s1600/IMG_3697.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6tEjQF12uNpVgjH8PEozbIxljZz3YMFSUoiahV8aYL0MHu4yD3196FbvxGZTKwMgqlraVoMfWOIWUAJlB4fp0Jiw7k3nGrl1y9Nhgo1H8gk5rumtTcifCSreIy285YscnrQNsO9Iyp_0/s640/IMG_3697.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Then the same woman that dyed this yarn, came up with this 'licorice' colour way. I immediately thought of licorice allsorts candy.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjwekToRDkHHio0YYsVHd2TQIH-_OMvbJna3kfqCENt8_YEnPWrK22Om36epOuKjEmiy2FHDRWuv_VMwI6z92GIP31btGA69WW-f4xcNzqi_HhZe0q8w1CSYbqNwv18PT5sXlksemlyZU/s1600/IMG_3726.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjwekToRDkHHio0YYsVHd2TQIH-_OMvbJna3kfqCENt8_YEnPWrK22Om36epOuKjEmiy2FHDRWuv_VMwI6z92GIP31btGA69WW-f4xcNzqi_HhZe0q8w1CSYbqNwv18PT5sXlksemlyZU/s640/IMG_3726.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
and had to have it in the shop! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKE9oWYMmA0LkZq-xirCb-FIOisIYSg1NX3CLzsKwGuYEGjGZWezMu-FRlILDHJEc4d3fHcI_47dIUl6-tUP75ldGhXF4yVGu8lrkfE8EiMokT4wTuMalZd05Ns9mj7VQlqj8X6GW1Ouc/s1600/P1110841.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKE9oWYMmA0LkZq-xirCb-FIOisIYSg1NX3CLzsKwGuYEGjGZWezMu-FRlILDHJEc4d3fHcI_47dIUl6-tUP75ldGhXF4yVGu8lrkfE8EiMokT4wTuMalZd05Ns9mj7VQlqj8X6GW1Ouc/s640/P1110841.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Right away I wound a skein and cast on for a pair of fun socks. I added in a bit of the leftover creamsicle yarn because I really wanted an orange heel<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLYHh-XVJdvSwIjI8KBTGjx-BsgidFOEeocQS3v4YyzS95adg8fWG4eh4IGSk2ZEJhe41MA5RvSJeFVLkaQ6RQWXiZc-uD-phM39QLip9qegGHTrODWUxGSmCcrDydlOotgqOWvm3e0U4/s1600/P1110840.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLYHh-XVJdvSwIjI8KBTGjx-BsgidFOEeocQS3v4YyzS95adg8fWG4eh4IGSk2ZEJhe41MA5RvSJeFVLkaQ6RQWXiZc-uD-phM39QLip9qegGHTrODWUxGSmCcrDydlOotgqOWvm3e0U4/s640/P1110840.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
and just like that a heel is born : ) My candy bag had no blue candies. Wha???<br />
<br />
This next combo reminds me of summer sherbet. I am using two stands of yarn for this shawl. A Malabrigo sock yarn and a silk haze yarn.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It's a real coral colour that my camera just can't capture. Even still, that colour! Delicious.<br />
<br />
Enjoy your week end!<br />

Samples really help to sell yarn when people can see and feel what it's like knitted up.<br />
<br />
Hats are fast and cute so I made a couple out of the cotton/rayon blend. It feels wonderful.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3x_Wnh1-b3BqRNptWRjswbSvKW61ghbb23qwNKzzTuBF0-WmgyXjJYc3ey9dNfhj4vPVWlOkeqB40P6FR-ImXNzvIblZTqp9TdFgoYNzfwKfIgt008jlQAZBanjCmzcvrMZxfC5OyZ3Q/s1600/IMG_3614.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3x_Wnh1-b3BqRNptWRjswbSvKW61ghbb23qwNKzzTuBF0-WmgyXjJYc3ey9dNfhj4vPVWlOkeqB40P6FR-ImXNzvIblZTqp9TdFgoYNzfwKfIgt008jlQAZBanjCmzcvrMZxfC5OyZ3Q/s640/IMG_3614.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
chocolate and aqua<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZjyr-qI8GJy61HoIvaTJY8rxcz03MmjI2_G5qy6Ceq8bm2kVWj1yC3Nk_8sJxI4-ouDSREVsFxbC7BEVPJilxw8WZq47nNlaoVGbSkaWHVA1VwQ9ksNGdbBIMVnv1ZA9EIOdLT7mSl2M/s1600/IMG_3634.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZjyr-qI8GJy61HoIvaTJY8rxcz03MmjI2_G5qy6Ceq8bm2kVWj1yC3Nk_8sJxI4-ouDSREVsFxbC7BEVPJilxw8WZq47nNlaoVGbSkaWHVA1VwQ9ksNGdbBIMVnv1ZA9EIOdLT7mSl2M/s640/IMG_3634.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
lavender and green<br />
<br />
Then this happened. I couldn't resist this gorgeous skein any longer so started a summer shawl<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHZuonKOgIpfTRBg2tWfwoNRTiXOxL93K79vFCtxBoYqWAWjPujmkRwVIbMN7aJgRk9eclf28exdcBP5ltSA2iu24hL8PaYKzA0vhJe0Uwmtu9qVg-AqGmaFKRnNXzJBNi_gTgWUHRsU/s1600/P1110824.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHZuonKOgIpfTRBg2tWfwoNRTiXOxL93K79vFCtxBoYqWAWjPujmkRwVIbMN7aJgRk9eclf28exdcBP5ltSA2iu24hL8PaYKzA0vhJe0Uwmtu9qVg-AqGmaFKRnNXzJBNi_gTgWUHRsU/s640/P1110824.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It's called 'creamsicle'. LOVE it. This yarn is hand dyed right here in town by Smith and Ewe.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO3lmPtGFNFLakRWXwbvCOEnf3HxFV8eE0Eh8ac3BdCuUsNHy9IGAZt-zFfmwZ_SJAwn5pph7kwUxhE17wa-pk7e3m5-Bwp6ySKM7NrWJYZJbO6Qo0fugMdzMZE-8MOoyfz_iVF0CnH7Y/s1600/IMG_3640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO3lmPtGFNFLakRWXwbvCOEnf3HxFV8eE0Eh8ac3BdCuUsNHy9IGAZt-zFfmwZ_SJAwn5pph7kwUxhE17wa-pk7e3m5-Bwp6ySKM7NrWJYZJbO6Qo0fugMdzMZE-8MOoyfz_iVF0CnH7Y/s640/IMG_3640.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
and how cute is this? I was gifted this entire bolt of cute sheep fabric. Ooh the possibilities. I know one thing for sure is it will be the backing for my 'knitty' word quilt. So fun<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This past week hubby built a new display. I saw something similar on Pinterest, and showed him. He's amazing. I love the industrial pipe and there is so much more display space than the table I had before. Good thing, because loads more is expected this week : )<br />
<br />
What are you working on ?<br />
<br />
Happy stitching,<br />

Every day is 'hair straight back' ! It sure is fun though having my own little shop. <br />
<br />
Word blocks have been arriving in the mail and I'm getting ideas as to how this quilt is going to look<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Just a couple more words to come and I can start to assemble : )<br />
<br />
I did actually carve out a few minutes to sew a bee block. <br />
<br />

<br />
I had free reign with the setting of these half square triangles to go in Stephanie's quilt.<br />
<br />
My daughter came to the shop and changed out the window display to a camping theme for May. It even includes a campfire with a roasting 'marshmallow'. <br />

That's it for today. I would like to get a picture of all the blocks together so far, but they are hanging at the shop. It won't be long now and I will be assembling these blocks into a quilt. Can't wait!<br />
<br />
Happy stitching,<br />

I'm enjoying the process of filling the shop with inventory and chatting to all the lovely people who walk through the door. Hubby is busy working in the back building an office-storage space. <br />
<br />
Not a lot of sewing is happening, but I have been knitting up some baby hats. Always a fun way to showcase a certain yarn.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFkgPmIBCBoECNbwoPSDbhEgplML4epIqs_pYh4YTB0ueOwncG6sihHmDXriTMCpqvX1aSOPbLkfq9YLUEhpWlPaeTWuf2bUTvaUm1R80oBzIibxUCL2_I2F_3YoX9mm2dFsDwT0yrLw0/s1600/P1110783.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFkgPmIBCBoECNbwoPSDbhEgplML4epIqs_pYh4YTB0ueOwncG6sihHmDXriTMCpqvX1aSOPbLkfq9YLUEhpWlPaeTWuf2bUTvaUm1R80oBzIibxUCL2_I2F_3YoX9mm2dFsDwT0yrLw0/s640/P1110783.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This little hat uses a 3 needle bind off while knitting an i-cord. I needed three hands, but managed...<br />
<br />

<br />
I made another slightly smaller one out of the leftovers. I'm a firm believer that every baby needs a hat : ) The pattern is by A.Opie and is called Duality<br />
<br />

<br />
These lovely fingerless gloves were knit by Carol. She is an amazing knitter, and fast!!! There are a few samples around the shop made by her. It's a free pattern called Marg's mitts<br />
<br />

I've been having fun changing out the window displays. I have everything from gumboots and umbrellas, to needles and books.<br />

<br />
This is the very fun quilt the staff made for me when I left <a href="http://www.katjasquiltshoppe.com/">Katja's.</a> It's nice to have it hanging in the shop as a reminder of them. <br />
<br />
Thank you to everyone who has popped in with well wishes. For those of you who have purchased yarn, how are your projects coming? I'd love to see<br />
<br />
Enjoy your week,<br />

She looked a little surprised and said "is this YOUR shop?" I told her it was, and she said "well you're the reason I'm knitting!"<br />
Now it was my turn to look surprised. She proceeded to tell me that several years ago one of her sons was heading to Guatemala on a missions trip and I donated a bunch of baby quilts and little knitted hats to match for the orphanage down there. After seeing the impact it had on the people working there, she decided she needed to learn how to quilt. She said with a laugh "well THAT didn't work, so I took up knitting". Suddenly I felt like <a href="http://carla-graceandfavour.blogspot.ca/2016/03/introducingknit2-yarns.html">Mrs. McArthur </a> It was really nice to know that something I did and had totally forgot about had made an impact on someone else. Quilting matters. Knitting matters. But most of all, giving of our time and talent matters.<br />
<br />
I got some happy mail yesterday! These blocks arrived for my knitty quilt from Mary<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
They tie in perfectly with my block and I just can't wait to get this quilt together : )<br />
I've got all kinds of words going through my head, but the wall in the shop where it will go is only so big. Once again I will have to demonstrate some self control..............<br />
<br />
Have a lovely week end,<br />
