SO, I'VE BEEN THINKING





My big hexagons are about half pieced. When I have the centre together, it will have to be appliqued down onto a background. I know I want a solid, but am not sure what colour. The picture I am basing my quilt on has a grey background. I love grey right now. However, this navy blue really makes the colours pop.


Choices. Glad I have them.






As soon as the order of solids comes into Katja's, I am going to try it out on some grey. These hexagons have proven to be a great summer project. Small enough to take anywhere, yet big enough to work up quickly. 

The best of both worlds.

    yes they look great on the navy....I'm wondering if your gray hexies won't be gulped up by the gray background? I'm so glad we can photograph our layouts because then we can see them from more of a distance....I think it gives us a better perspective than closeup and "in person".........your hexies are beautiful!

    Your hexies are beautiful! I think the navy background looks great! Maybe try them on a blue/grey? I too, love the take-along-ability (new word for portability?) of hexies!

    they look great! I love working on hexies this summer too, though I attach them together as soon as I have a big pile, don't know how to END them though, I'll figure it out :-)

    I like the navy, but I think that the grey would be pretty good. I think it would go nicely with the greys and mauves in your hexies. Let us know when the grey comes in. x

    Oooh, you're right - the navy looks awesome! But the right gray might work, too. Your hexies lay so flat! What kind of thread do you usually use?

    Very nice.. I love the look of my hexagons flowers when I stack them like that too.. And then when I lay them out on my table to see progress made, I smile...

    Carla, is this the Fat Quarterly Quilt along? If so, I'm doing it too and loving hexis! I think I like the navy too, although I'm very partial to gray as well. Mine are no where near as complete as yours. I still have a bunch to baste and only have 4 flowers put together! But it's been a fun summer project! : )
