There's no going back now. I have the little embroidery quilt all cut apart. As it turns out, by the time I cut away the holes and stains, the blocks ended up 6 1/2" x 10 1/2".
At first, I had some 30's reproduction picked out, but then I found my roll of solids, and decided this looked better.
The 30's seemed to compete too much or something. Maybe once I get piecing, this will prove to be too much as well.
Here are this months blocks for Heal@do.good stitches
Nicke posted some lovely photos on her blog with these quilts in action. Take a look if you have time.
Lastly, thanks to everyone who voted for my hexagon quilt. It came in second! I now have a bit of play money for the Fat Quarter Shop.
Have a great week-end.

Congratulations on the 2nd place finish! Awesome! And great call on the solids, too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your high ranking for your hexagon quilt, Carla.
ReplyDeleteI think the plain fabrics you've chosen look beautiful with the little embroidered blocks. I can almost imagine each block having its own narrow border and then using another color for sashing. However you choose to do it, Carla, I'm sure the finished quilt will be delightful - just the thing to warm a child's heart before sleep.
Your little white blocks with colored corners are very fun. I love the bright prints you used.
Congrats on your win, that quilt is beautiful and deserved its prize!

ReplyDeleteThe vintage embroidery blocks are just darling. Have you thought about some of the Fig Tree fabrics to go with them? I was thinking the Urban Cowgirl line would be cute, but I'm not sure the colours are exaclty right. Looking forward to see what you do with them.
