THANKSGIVING

As I've mentioned in a previous post, we have members in our Moda club ranging in age from 18 to 90+. The youngest is my daughter Carli. Back in March, she was on spring break, and needed something to keep her busy.  She fell in love with Modern Affair by Pat Bravo, when it came into the shop, and asked me if she could make a quilt for herself.  Why yes indeed! This is her first quilt, other than a raggy quilt when she was about 10.

(I think the pink/orange fabric may be a Kaffe Fassett ) She did all the cutting and piecing herself.  During the construction of it, she decided to make it longer which meant she didn't have enough length for her border fabric. I showed her how to cut it so the pattern matches and she did a great job. You can't even tell where the join is : ) Pretty great for a first quilt I'd say.

It still needs it's binding, but that might take some "encouragement". I love doing binding so I may end up doing it.

The quilting is an allover free motion design of her choosing.

I think she may have caught the bug because she's now finished her second top! I'm not sure if there's room in my budget for two quilters........

Thanksgiving is always a time to reflect on how blessed we are.

I am thankful for ,

-God's grace
-family
-health
-a son who will come to the park to take pictures of a quilt with his Mother  : )

Happy day to you.
