GOOD MORNING 2013

Today is a new start.  2012 was wonderful,  and I am looking forward to 2013.

All last year, I worked on a new hexagon every week. (nearly)  Even though I am a few behind, I started Katja's next project : A Hexabet of Alphagons.

This quilt will consist of the alphabet, and the numbers 0 to 9
I'm thinking scrappy, but monochromatic too.

Sewing samples for the Moda club each month results in tons of scraps. The other day I came across this scrap quilt on I'm a Ginger Monkey. Much like the Granny Square craze, I imagine this will sweep across blogland too! I checked out the tutorial, and made a block right away.

Although the Trip Around the World pattern is not new, I've never made one --until now  : )

For the second block,  I eliminated the black and chose a bit brighter palette.

I'm hooked. This is probably more like the colours I will choose. The block is fast and fun to make. Pretty much any fabrics will work in this quilt. I think I will spend today happily going through my scrap bins and seeing how far I will get on my own Trip Around the World.

I only made one New Years resolution : eat less, sew more...........

  23. Happy new year Carla! Those scrappy trip along postings on IG have been killing me - love them but have been away from my fabric. I, too, would love information on the hexie alphabets. I clicked on Katja's link but didn't see anything. Thanks.

  24. Oh my gosh, those alphabet blocks are too cute!! I'm eyeing the scrap around blocks, but I might have to table it for a few months to finish some other projects. I'll definitely need a project to clear out the scrap bins soon, though!
