MODERN HEXIE BABY

After three days of quilting, it's done. I love the simplicity of it.

Inspiration came from a couple of sources ( here and here ).

I used two different sized hexagons and a selection of springy colours. The background is feathered friends by Northcott. I hadn't originally planned to appliqué these down and then mow over them with stitching, but I really wanted to try this dense quilting so I went for it!

The lines are 1/4" apart

After all that quilting I thought it might stand up by itself, but surprisingly it has a nice drape to it.

backing is Textures by Angela Walters

I will definitely be doing this type of quilting again. Perhaps on an even bigger quilt.
I am happy, happy, happy.

  11. WOW! That looks like a lot of work, but totally worth it! It is neat how the pattern of the fabric with the lined quilting gives a totally different effect- it almost looks textured at first glance. Great job!!!
