THE PROCESS

The latest craze to pop up on the blogosphere is the economy block. They are fast, fun and a great use of the little novelty prints we have tucked away.  It starts with fabric selection.

This pile was all in that orange basket there behind.  I dug through and started pulling out pieces I thought would work.

Fabrics by Aneela Hoey are just perfect for these blocks. We still have a bit left in the sale area at work. If Gloria doesn't beat me to it, I might get more          : )

Slowly but surely they are taking over my design wall.  I don't think the scraps will fit back in the basket so I guess I'll keep going.

  5. Those look fun! Isn't it a wonder how fabric fit in a basket then won't fit again even though you've used some of the fabric? Mystery of the universe.

  9. Absolutely wonderful blocks and a great way to use up scraps but I can't help feeling that the more you use the more the scrap heap grows. At least it seems to in my house. Philippa xx

  11. I have been seeing these recently but can't figure out why they are being called economy blocks. They will always be square in a square to me, but maybe it is that extra square. Anyway, yours are surely the cutest I have seen. You must have a great scrap pile!

  36. Fast, fun, frugal, and FANTASTIC! (Okay, I can't wrap my head around them being "fast", but I'm no quilter - which is why I'm not commenting on your wonderful giveaway post.) These blocks pack a wonderful, graphic, dose of happy. Could get lost in gazing at such a whimsical quilt. Perfect.
