I know, it's still months away but it will be here before we know it. The other day I pulled out these blocks and got to work. I'm piecing this for a friend and I'm sure she would like to get it to the long armer one of these days.......
I started by sewing the little pinwheels onto the corners of the 20 blocks I had already made
then I pieced a few more blocks and soon I had 30 !
I'm hoping for 42 blocks but we will see how far the fabric goes
Then I pieced some more Bee blocks. 'Whirled' blocks for the Heal group of do.good stitches
and I cut out a little dress for Miss J. This is sort of a practice piece to check for size. I tried to take some measurements the other day as she was running by, but apparently she didn't have time........
Have a lovely week
Those pinwheels are so cute. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThose trees look fabulous with those sweet little pinwheel corners.
ReplyDeleteIts never too early for some Christmas stitching!
ReplyDeleteI love the pinwheel blocks at the joining seams, are they the floating kind? Great idea, Carla.
ReplyDeleteIt makes for a great quilt for any time of the year, depending on what fabric you choose.
Wow, the trees are amazing.....and the fabric for Miss J is so sweet...... Can't wait to see her outfit with sweater and cat all together... So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteLove those blocks and especially the Christmas one.
ReplyDeleteI've just managed to cut out another dress for Little Lady, same style as the red sundress I've already made. Easy Peasy pattern, x
What a cute Christmas quilt! It's the perfect combo :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your Christmas quilt! The simplicity of the trees offset with the pinwheels is genius! And Miss J is going to look adorable in her new outfit!
ReplyDeleteIt felt like Christmas weather here in Sasatoon. I love your Tree Blocks. Mind you I pretty much love everything you put on your blog.
ReplyDeleteGetting a jump on things I see! Might have to follow your lead, I'll think about it tomorrow ;)
ReplyDeleteEeeks!! Thanks for reminding me about Christmas, Carla...NOT!! I haven't got over this last one!! ;) Though I do love your Christmas trees and your bee blocks, especially the pretty blue one. Love that fabric for Miss J's dress, 'tis perfect for the li'l cardi!!
ReplyDeleteVery productive!
ReplyDeleteHi Carla, Sorry couldn't find how to email privately but the pattern you asked for is by Butterick #B5592. It's what they call a 'see & sew' pattern. This one starts at age 7 but they may well do something similar in smaller sizes. I'm a real novice and found this quite straightforward. Hope this helps. Alison aka cockneyblonde
ReplyDeleteLove the Christmas quilt Carla hope you will link it up to our monthly Ho Ho Ho and on We Sew Link Party on the 18th of each month when you finish it!
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas quilt is adorable! I should start now and maybe this year I'd actually have my new tree skirt. =)
