THIS AND THAT THURSDAY

Bee blocks keep me busy at the beginning of every month. For July I had a nice variety to sew.

  Sandra asked for these Trellis Crossroad blocks for the Humility group of do.good Stitches


Susan wanted any star block on a black background so I made her a 'twice upon a star' block


In June, Linda asked for string diamonds with a little orange in each one.   I mailed late but she does have them now : )


I got my hands on a few fat quarters of the new Cotton and Steel after a little road trip to Summerland  and Cherry Tree Quilts.  Hi Barb!  I pictured them made up into arrow blocks and I really like how they turned out


I used the selvedge for one of the arrows.  Love it.



One of my boys has been taking a lot of pictures lately and putting them on Instagram. I thought just for a change of pace I would post a few of my favourites here.  Canada is such a beautiful country.
This is basically our playground here in British Columbia   : )

    Gorgeous blocks! Especially those arrows with the clever use of Cotton+Steel.

    Beautiful British Columbia. This is exactly why my family and I want to move back. ;o) Miss this so much. Your son captured some amazing scenes. Thanks for sharing them!

    Great photos! Your son is quite the gifted photographer. BC is a beautiful province. I really like those trellis crossroad blocks - great fabric in them.

    Love those bee blocks too - and every time I see your arrow blocks my fingers itch to make some of my own. I've bookmarked & pinned your tutorial - so I know there will definitely be some fun arrows in my future :*D LOVE the Cotton + Steel selvedge in there!!!

    Your blocks are great as usual. Love your arrows in the Cotton + Steel. However, your son's photographs steal the show in this post ;-)))!!!! Incredible photography! Please tell me those photographs were not taken with his cell phone, and YES, I'd love to visit ;-)

    Great use of selvedges, and I love the crossroads blocks.
    I am going to visit BC – off to Grand Forks soon to visit the in-laws. I have no clue about our itinerary, but I have my aeroplane sewing kit ready to go. Priorities. Thanks for the inspiring photos to get me in the mood.

    I loved seeing all those beautiful pictures of your "playground" but also loved the pictures of your beautiful quilt creations, too. Brilliant use of the selvage on those arrows! I haven't yet jumped on the Cotton/Steel bandwagon, but now I just might after seeing your arrows. It was great to see such an array of industry on your part--they are so lovely.

    I didn't leave a comment on your "anniversary" blog post because I don't need to be entered in your drawing, but congratulations on your postings and on your blogiversary, if there is such a word. I enjoy reading about your quilting and about your life. Carry on!

    Love the use of salvage on the arrows, and the star in a star block. And yes I want to visit Canada, but we may have to wait a wee while now before I can handle long haul flights with two boys in tow!

    Your blocks are gorgeous! The way you use colour, Carla... Your fabric choices are always so interesting and spot-on.

    My Cotton + Steel isn't here yet and I was almost regretting my pre-order but seeing what everyone is doing with theirs is starting to make me excited instead. Great use of selvedge!

    I love the selvage in the arrow block--I might have purchased some cotton + steel just for the selvages...
