The idea I had in my head was of someone cycling around the old country......
.......and exploring the old houses and shops. Previous post about this is here
The bicycle was fun to appliqué, but not easy to top stitch. I guess I should have thought of that !
I did minimal quilting on this. Just a bit of texture on the 'wall'. It was fun bringing an idea to life with fabric. Sure hope the recipient likes it too : )
For a previous swap I was in, I got this cute mini quilt from Nicole. I had said my favourite colour combo is turquoise and orange ( thus the bicycle ) and my favourite block is the churn dash. She made me this
Those churn dash blocks measure 3 1/2"
I just love it. Thank you Nicole!

Sew cute! love, love, love the bike of course!
ReplyDeleteLike ve the bicycle. Way toooooo cute. Nice to see your quilt from Nicole finished.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of biking the Old Country is so appealing and you made it into such a sweet little quilt. Well done with those little flowers around the door. I also really like Nicole's spools and suddenly want to make a studios quilt of spools all for myself. As if I didn't have enough to do already.
ReplyDeleteThe bike is especially lovely. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteLove the mini and the little spots of French knots around the door. Such a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteA bike is nice anytime! Well, at least when the sun is shining! This mini is very cute!
ReplyDeleteOoh-la-la ... une si jolie bicyclette! Lucky gal who is being gifted with this adorable pretty. Lucky you...for receiving the mini quilt. The colours are gorgeous; as are the patterns!
ReplyDeleteYour bicycle mini is so sweet and nostalgic. And oh my! 3-1/2" churn dash blocks! Love both of these little quilts. :)
ReplyDeleteI find it easier to do three rows of top stitching. I can never get one straight, but three wonky lines seem to average themselves out and look straight.
ReplyDeleteThe bicycle mini is gorgeous!
I love the little bicycle! I just got done with a tiny sewing project, so I feel your pain there! The quilting is lovely around the door- great effect! Yours is so adorable, too! It makes me want to start making tiny blocks now!
ReplyDeleteSuper great job on that mini! You are a very talented girl :)
ReplyDeleteThese are both so cute! That bicycle is just darling.
ReplyDeleteThe bike quilt is such a cute idea! Love the colours too! The quilting round the door is lovely. X
ReplyDeleteI am in love with that bike quilt - super job!
ReplyDeleteBoth minis are beautiful! I love the texture of the one you made. Just the right amount. How long did it take to stitch around the bicycle? Incredible.
ReplyDeleteThat is fabulous! I love the bicycle.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled that you love the mini! I really enjoyed making it for you. :)
