NEW HATS--OLD FRIENDS

I'm sure it was at least ten years ago, I bought this panel. Since then it's been ageing (like me) in a drawer. I've thought about it from time to time. My intention was to make something for my sister when she turned 50. Then I thought no, maybe a friend when she had HER big one.  Now that I can say I'm in to my fifties, I just may have to make it for myself.

Oh. My. Word.

I know someone who is probably howling right now.  Hi Karen!

The panel is called "New Hats- Old Friends" by Sandy Gervais. Do you think if we bug her enough she might come out with another one???

I think I should make this up to remind myself about the humorous side of getting older.  As my mother says.........."This getting old thing aint for sissies"!

Happy Mothers Day       : )

  2. OMG that is so funny. Just love it. Recently saw a 'cartoon' on facebook which says something like 'the reason I'm this big is because God liked me so much he made more of me'. Sums me up at the moment, x

  3. I have this same fabric, and was going to make it for a older friend too, but now that I am in my 60's, I think I should make it for myself too. I continue to laugh at myself, and remind myself It's Okay! Enjoy your day, and thanks for the laugh!

  4. Oh my word. I just found this fabric last week. I purchased this 10 years ago. I too need to make something. I recently purchased an accuquilt Go, so I think I will make a brick quilt and scatter these squares in to make table runners for my aunt and cousins!

  9. I do like the bubble wrap thinking if only losing weight was as simple as popping bubble wrap though :( Hope you think of a use for your panel Carla, it deserves to be out in the daylight raising a smile :)

  11. Simply awesome...and even better are the comments that follow. I agree...life would be simpler if loosing weight just meant popping the bubble wrap...sigh!

  13. That’s one hilarious panel Carla!
I loved being in my 50’s, they meant nothing yet...

Now I’m in my (early) 60’s (the new 505’s) and feels so different.
I always remember the Garfield phrase ‘I’m not overweight, I’m undertall’!

  14. Well, you see, that’s one of the downsides of being in my 60’s, I can’t even spell 50’s in the right way!
