MY CORNER OF THE FARM

A couple of weeks ago, Linda had a viewing of the Farmers Wife quilts she and a bunch of us were working on. She spent a lot of time last year keeping us motivated and providing us with helpful hints for piecing, so I wanted to encourage her by at least showing up for the tea. At the last minute, I pieced the few blocks I had done into rows.

Once I got going I was excited to make more blocks. This one was next in the book. Now I know why I probably fell off the hay wagon .......

Who's idea was it to put 51 pieces in a 6" block?   #26- cut glass dish

# 27- darting birds

#28- duck and ducklings

#29- economy

#30- end of day

I'm on my way to having another row done. It feels good to be working on this again.

Thanks Linda! That was just the kick in the 'overalls' I needed to get going on this : )  To see some finished quilts, click here

  6. I"m looking at that first block and wondering if you have heard of triangles on a roll? I don't know what size those HST's are, but maybe it would take the piecing of them to an enjoyable new level. A lady from the guild I used to attend told me about how wonderful they are and they come in all sizes. Might be something to look into.

Your quilt is gorgeous! I'm sure you will love to complete it.

  12. Your blocks look perfect to me, Carla. I just reserved Farmer's Wife from the library since I've only seen bits and pieces around internet blogland. I'm not sure I'm up to 51 pieces in 6" yet. I need to hone my skills before expecting success in that project!

  13. Well, your blocks certainly are pretty and those ladies that got theirs done sure were dedicated. I might have been much slower too when I saw so many pieces in one little block!

  23. LOL @ the 51 pieces in 6 inches. My sentiments exactly. I really like making these blocks for the FWQ but the triangles with 1 inch legs are the minimal size i can tolerate. Not to scare you but there are a few blocks with more pieces. I have 25 blocks to go myself and somehow all those have managed to end up in the last 25 blocks GRRRR.

  24. I love the colors! I am working on one but in Civil War fabrics. Now I wonder if I should have picked out some pretty brights like you.
