I'm sure I have worked on this quilt off and on for over a year but the top is finally finished. Yay!
The pattern is called Jovial, and the fabrics are Countdown to Christmas by Sweetwater for Moda.
When I made a lap size version of this quilt a few years back, it was about 60" x 60". This one finishes 75" x 84". It's big !
It looks a little odd laying on the green grass instead of snow, but if you close your eyes and imagine.....
Some of those little three dimensional pinwheels still need a shot of steam, but I'm happy with how this quilt turned out.
Now I will turn this over to Dawn and she'll get it quilted up so her and hubby can be snuggling under it by Christmas : )
Another one off the list and out the door!

What a fun and festive quilt!! I'm sure they're going to love it!

Beautiful!!! I'm working on one of these too with a couple of friends. Mine is totally scrappy with lots of Christmas prints in it. I really like the use of a cohesive line of fabrics in yours. You have a good long-armer if she doesn't complain about those 3D pinwheels!
ReplyDeleteSo you are getting a taste of what Christmas is like here: a Christmas quilt on the grass on a summery day. All you need is watermelon and a swimming pool and you have the beginnings of an Aussie Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHow will you quilt around the super-cute 3D pinwheels?
Such beautiful little trees. Someone will be ready for Christmas, thanks to you!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! I've also been working on a Christmas quilt this week!
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest! You finished at the half way mark of the year. Only six more months till it's needed. Boy are you on the ball!
ReplyDeleteCute! I like the 3D pinwheels, and the twisted and turned trees.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous Carla!
ReplyDeleteLove the fun quilt! Yikes Christmas is getting to close for me.

ReplyDeleteA Great Quilt. I think I will like to make this one. But I do not want to close my eyes and see snow. Winter was a long and cold one. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love it Carla....Thank You....I will get the backing ready and then off to Linda for her beautiful work.....
ReplyDeleteThat looks fabulous. What a nice winter quilt that will make.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and fabric. Each of those little blocks took some work, and it's a large quilt too! Well done.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely darling!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful Christmas finish! Congrats :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! It is fun to see all of your finishes. I had a finish last week at sit and sew and forgot to take a picture before I sent it to the quilter. It felt great to get it pieced.

ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a really fun quilt. I love how the tress are pointing in all directions and the pinwheels are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI. Love. Your. Quilt. Saw it at the Ho Ho Ho and On We Sew linky party, and came over for a closer peek :) The 3D pinwheels are such a fun touch - and quite frankly, I'm happier to see it on grass than on snow, after the brutal winter we just endured, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your quilt! Especially like the 3-dimensional pinwheels! Curious...do you have any leftover "Countdown to Christmas" fabric that you might be interested in selling? I have 3 layer cakes, but need another one plus fabric for the borders. Please let me know!
