I'm still crazy over quilts made using low volume prints in the background--or anywhere for that matter. Last week I got a hankering to make some charm packs of low volume prints because I thought they might be a good thing to have in the shop where I work. I chose 40 different bolts of fabric and
Katja showed me how to use that cutter thingy she has. This is the result : )
Not that I had an ulterior motive or anything, but I took a package home and made these blocks
I needed 11 more blocks to add to a quilt top I made a year ago. I will show you as soon as it's quilted. I love these!!!
I had my grand girlies for a few hours and Miss J wanted piggie tails like her big sister so........
.......there is nothing low volume about that hair!! Adorable
Beautiful blocks and beautiful girls, x
ReplyDeleteLow volume is a winner. I hope your little redhead never changes her hair colour. I met a young woman who was in her early thirties who dyed her hair darker 'cause she didn't like the colour. I thought it was a shame and told her so. There are so few redheads in this world.
ReplyDeleteAsides from a few bee blocks here and there, I haven't done much low volume stuff but I love it! I think it's because I don't have much fabric on hand so I can't just jump into something. A low volume charm pack would be perfect!! I love your cross blocks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Low volume charm packs!!!!! Gorgeous girlies!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of the girlies by the pond. What a great place to take them, and so close to home!
ReplyDeleteI was in a text amd low vol charm swap...now you have inspired me to use them in a plus design...which is one of my fav designs. Thnx.
ReplyDeletego with what you love xx and I LOVE the hair .. that red reminds me of my daughter when she was small.. she is more of a chestnut now xx
ReplyDeleteLove the label "Carla's Choice" - I'm sure everyone will love them!
ReplyDeleteHi Carla! I had the same hair colour in that age! Low volumes are so great to MIX with colours. You have gathered great pack and I love the plus blocks! x Teje
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the kiddos....too cute.
ReplyDeleteI love those blocks!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I also love Miss J's 'frilly bottom' - such a cute cossie for a little one!
Impressive transition from quilt blocks to pony tails. I also like how work transitioned to UFO progress.
ReplyDeleteI have been hooked on low volume too and keep thinking I will get tired of it since I use it in almost everything I make but I haven't tired of it yet!! Fun picture of your grand girls!! I would love to have the color and the curl!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou must have such fun working in the shop.
ReplyDeleteThis Carla also chose some of the bicycle print. I have that fabric in my stash (because of my bicycle-crazy husband).
Those girls are darling! How fun would it be to have hair like that!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the quilt, I'm still gah gah for low volume backgrounds too.
Oh you are a tease! I have just recovered from a slight inconvenience of not being able to breath after that first photo of your low volumes sitting atop that gorgeous hexie! It was nearly the undoing of me but I am so pleased that I continued on. Love the blocks and your choice of fabrics....AND....that hair...those curls and that colour...just gorjus!!
ReplyDeleteThat's the hair I had when I was young!!! Does she have the fair skin to match?
ReplyDeleteLove those low volume blocks.
How fun to have your own "Carla" charm pack....they look like a great assortment. That darling curly Q could be my little Jane!
ReplyDeleteI love those fabrics!!! I bet you could sell a bunch of them :) The little girls and their pony tails remind me so much of my summers as a girl. Ah, good times!
ReplyDeleteThat picture is absolutely adorable. And that quilt, I'm in love. Great job on the charm packs.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you--I love the blocks! Great choices on your part for the low volume fabrics.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks...and Little Miss J and S are so adorable, lucky Grandma. And the sun was shining. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove those plus blocks, so fun!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable pig tails and gorgeous blocks :)
ReplyDeleteLove how the colours pop against the low volume and I'm a big fan of it too! The pigtails are adorable :)
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks. It is fun to mix up background fabrics. Cute photo of the girls.
ReplyDeleteFun blocks! Sweet picture of the girls.
ReplyDeleteI love assembling charm packs of favorite fabrics to give as gifts. Love the low volume pack you created. I need to add more of these fabrics to my stash. Your granddaughters are just adorable with those pigtails!
ReplyDeleteLove those blocks, Carla! You have a good eye for fabric combinations and design.
ReplyDeleteAw, what sweethearts! Love the pig tails. :o)
Sweet . . . both the little girls and the little charms.
ReplyDeleteI love that hair!! My little gal (22 months) has curly strawberry blond hair and she always gets looks and giggles as we walk along--stinking cute! Your gal must get the sweetest stares with all that red curliness! love!
