Here is Mom cutting her cake with her little helper. I hope I look that good at 80. I hope I look that good at 51.......
We also had a few out of towners show up for the occasion. They arrived in this
the next day I had everyone for brunch and we took this photo just as they were leaving
Anyway, back to my sewing room I went and made my block pieces for Rene in the Mid century Modern group. She doesn't want them sewn together so she can sprinkle them throughout her quilt.
my blocks are starting to arrive from the Simply Solids group. I think this will be a fun quilt when it's all done
the Christmas quilt is ticking along
and I started my letters for the word block I am making for the Heal@do. good stitches group
and lastly, a while back I bought this piece of fabric to make Janie a spring dress. I was itching to knit again so started a little sweater to go with it. I am so slow on this but there is a hockey game tonight so I will make some progress.

Wow!! I don't believe for one minute that your mum is 80!! It sounds as if you all had the best celebration!!
Carla your mum looks great and I have no doubt that with those good genes so will you (just keep taking the tablets). Good to see that you are making up for lost time on the blocks. I agree - that solids quilt is going to look wonderful. Philippa xx
Congratulations on your Mother’s 80th Birthday!
Love your Christmas blocks!
Wow you had quite the celebration! Your mum looks great. Your first block is the pattern i am doing for a quilt for Annie (my niece). She has just moved out on her own. It is on the machine now. The kaleidoscopes, four of those blocks of four make are so neat. Will have pics after she has it. Lots of WIPs to keep you busy!
Your mom looks great! Hope her day was fantastic! I love your letters for the Do good stitches. Also i forgot to tell you in last weeks comment I met Katja and Barb, what nice women. If I ever get to visit up north I would love to come to your area and meet you too!
Yep, no doubt about it - your mother is beautiful! And she sure makes it really easy to believe that the '80' is a typo! A several decades typo, no less. What a wonderful group you're surrounded by.
And so many beautiful quilts emerging.
I'd say Moms having birthdays trumps sewing....always.
Congratulations to your mom! She looks amazing! How wonderful your had so many dear people celebrating! x Teje
Happy Birthday to your mom. She looks fabulous! And it looks like you've been busy sewing-wise, even after entertaining with such a large family group. You go, girl!!!

How fun, a family bus. :)
Your Mom looks great! I bet her secret is being surrounded by such a big wonderful family.
What is the cute Christmas tree pattern you're making? I'd like to try one like that.
More important (from a fellow Canadian) whose your team? I imagine you're a Canucks fan?
Happy Sewing!
Your Mom looks terrific! And Happy Birthday to her!
Love all the projects in your post--very fun to read about all of them. Now I need to get busy sewing and finish up Rene's blocks and get them off! Thanks for the inspiration.

Oh, Carla, I love the fabric for the dress, and the sweater color is going to be perfect! Can't wait to see it all done. :) Loving your blocks too, and how cool that all the visitors came on a bus!! Happy Birthday to your mom!! :)

Happy birthday to your beautiful mom. I think you have had some good excuses for not sewing.
Your Christmas forest looks wonderful as does your knitting.
Your looks amazing for 80, same age as my mil. It must have been both wonderful and exhausting to have so many family members together.
That party, and the quantity of guests, should be an excuse good for at least a month! Can't believe you got sewing in too! Love your Spider Web pieces for Rene, and those Simply Solid blocks too. Great stuff! Wish we lived closer together, to spend time together, and to get you to one of our MQG meetings.
Whew....you are the energizer bunny, girl!! I'm so inspired by you!
That is a lot of people for brunch! I bet you had the most wonderful time. Your mother is lovely. And such pretty blocks. I can never believe how much you accomplish!
