This day last year I went up to the park and took this picture of 'Glorious Fall'
I went home and over time added one more row to finish the pattern, and then it sat. I added it to my fourth quarter list in the hopes it would motivate me to get on it. Then I saw this quilt by Maureen Cracknell and knew that I wanted to finish mine that way. So, with permission, I forged ahead.
As you can see by the photo, winter has come a bit earlier this year.
Although I'm not really a purple person, this plum colour framed it so well so I ran with it!
The quilt top measures 53 by about 80. A good twin size
I have some ideas for quilting it following the zig zags with different quilting designs. I think it will be fun trying things out. So, one year to the day, I'm a step closer to having it done!

It looks fabulous, looking forward to seeing it all quilted up
This is gorgeous! Now don't take another year to finish it! BTW I love the purple!

It's awesome Carla. That plum colour is really beautiful!
what fun to return on the same day .. will you be there next year with a finished quilt? .. like the colour choices xx
What a happy quilt! I love the way you finished the edges, and the fact that you received inspiration from another quilter. It looks like a fiesta to me! It's really cool you returned one year later and took a photo!
Perfect way to finish this quilt top! I love it!
What's your rush? Looks good!
Perfect finish
It's a great pattern...I was wondering size, because it's so long, so thanks for sharing that with us. I think the plum border looks great too.

Oh yes! Maureen Cracknell's quilt-as-you-go Herringbone quilt! I know the one you are referring to! This is gorgeous!!!!
It's yummy! Colors, style and pattern - love it all.
Love your photo shoot! Great pictures and thumbs up on the plum!
That is really gorgeous! The border really completes it! Great job!
I love the purple! Purple seems to work well with multi coloured quilts!
I love it with the borders. Beautiful finish, congrats.
I really enjoyed your comparison of fall this year to last year. It's amazing how the trees have lost leaves already. We are enjoying the colors of fall for once. Usually the trees change color for one day and the leaves drop off. Your pictures are gorgeous.
Every quilt has its own timeline and some will not be rushed! The plum looks gorgeous...
Oooh the purple is fantastic! I love this!
What a great quilt! Must be time to start working on my scrap bin again!
That looks wonderful! I love the color.
It looks amazing. How amazing the purple frame is, and it totally changes the quilt - in a very good way of course! Good plan to have waited for the right finish to come to you!
Stunning! Looks great with the purple frame. Great photography Carla. We, too, have snow - lots of it!!
Stellar. I love the plumb!
Oh, that is going to be a gorgeous quilt. I love those fall colors and fall setting.
Carla, it's beautiful and i like the purple around! I really like now purple and I think it's my way to feel autumn and winter after summer and bright colours! x Teje
I loved seeing the contrast between last year (and unfinished quilt) and this year (finished quilt), and in the difference in the seasons. Congratulations on finishing up the quilt top. It's beautiful.

Sometimes it's really good to not complete a quilt because later you come back to it with fresh eyes and try something different than your original vision. I like it!
The purple is really beautiful with all the strings of colors.
