It's the last Friday of the month which means it's time for me to post about my Friendship X and + blocks for Cindy. These are the blocks I made her for February
Seeing as though they are scrappy blocks, I started sewing them together just to see what they are going to look like. I didn't really have a plan, but I thought I would alternate a block from Cindy, one from me, one from her, etc.
Love. It.
I saw this bolt of fabric at a little shop and thought "ohhhhh it's just the colours in our quilt!" I wonder how Cindy feels about hippos??
Also I read somewhere that they don't sell Smarties in the States. Can this be true? Just in case, I am enclosing a few boxes with her blocks this month for her grand children to enjoy : )
I sure hope the people at Customs don't mind.........
So, 40 blocks out of 64 done. I am off to pull fabrics for March's blocks.
If you want to swap blocks you can find the info here and here

W.I.P. WEDNESDAY
Cannery Row is growing. These blocks aren't sewn together yet, but that's 104" of goodness you're looking at right there. I have been after hubby to knock out a wall in the kitchen for ages. If he won't do it to accommodate our big family dinners, perhaps when he sees I need more space for quilting he will?
These lovely Churn Dash blocks have been arriving in the mail. They will become another charity quilt for Hospice. I love making these quilts
My son came for breakfast sporting his dreadlocks. I need to finish his hat a.s.a.p : )
The hat is called 'the woodcutter'. I really like the texture of the pattern
and lastly, look what followed me home from work yesterday. A new kit! I'll be plugging away on this brushed cotton quilt in the next few days. I think it will be fun!

A WEE BIT OF PROGRESS
I worked on my 100 Modern Quilt Blocks recently. They come together quickly so I get instant gratification. Sort of an in between projects--project : )

I've got a long way to go yet, but that will give me time to decide how I am going to set all the blocks.
Happy Stitching!

FEBRUARY BEE BLOCKS
Yesterday my sewing was dedicated to getting my blocks done for my swap partners. Last year Carla asked for churn dash blocks done in Juicy Fruit colours. She decided that a queen size was what she wanted so we are making her the same block this time around.
four 6" churn dash blocks
sewn together to make one 12" block
For the Humility Group we made the Ribbon Star block. Lots of piecing in this one, but worth it.
You can tell I was working out of the same scrap basket for one of these : )
The high point of my day was teaching my daughter in law how to make her first quilt ! I had a stack of charm packs for her to choose from and she chose this lovely collection.
She was just over the moon about it! On her next visit we may add a border or get straight to the quilting. One thing's for sure--she's got the bug. Happy Dance!
Enjoy your week end

ATOMIC TABBY'S --- A FINISH
First of all I want to say thank you so much to everyone who commented on my last post. My son and I had a nice time taking photos and having coffee together. I do respond to every comment when possible but I couldn't trace my way back to one person. **Tammy McNaught there is no e-mail on your profile and no other information, but thanks for commenting : )
My little charm pack quilt is done! Two finishes in a row feels good. This little quilt was quick and easy and will hang around here for a while until a new baby needs it . I made a quilt like this years ago, but felt it was time to re-visit it.
These pics were taken yesterday coming home from a road trip. The elevation here is 1224 meters above sea level. Just a wee bit snowy.
I loaded the background with pebble quilting---my favourite fill
the backing is from the same line and it's called 'Plenty of Pegs' and the binding is a melon coloured solid that worked perfectly. Love it.

SCRAPPY TRIP -- A FINISH
Not long ago, one of my boys was showing me some photos he had taken and I couldn't help but think, " what a great place for a photo shoot". This is a rest area located about 20 minutes outside of town and overlooks Kamloops Lake
I think it's amazing that a lake that size can be nearly all frozen over. We HAVE had it cold lately....
I had an appointment with Linda to quilt this for me and I asked her for the Continuous Mums that she does free motion. I am so thrilled with the texture it has!
One last shot that my boy took and e-mailed to me. I think he tweaked the colour a bit but I like the contrast : )

MORE PROJECTS THAN $EN$E
Has this been a long winter, or is it just me? I'm finding myself doing a little more shopping these days to help combat the frigid temperatures. At least it warms my heart : )
These blocks are from the Second Saturday Sampler that Katja is running. If we come that month with our previous month's block done, we get the next one free. So far I've only had to pay the 'fine' once.
On a recent road trip I saw this quilt made up. It was stunning! It's called Cannery Row based on the old fish canneries.
It was all solids and I fell hard. This thing is huge so it may take a while.....
Corey from 'Little Miss Shabby' is designing cross stitched quilt blocks as a stitch along. It's been years since I have done any cross stitch but I couldn't resist the sampler. Block one is 'Swoon'.
........and what's this? Another project. How'd that get there
The colours in this little charm pack drew me in.
More on this one in the near future.
Well as you can see, I've got my work cut out for me. Have a great week everyone.

LITTLE KNITS
Miss J's sweater is done. I love to knit, but question why, whenever it comes time to sew all those pieces together. I really hate dislike that part.
The yarn is an organic cotton I picked up last year
If I can keep the momentum going, I have fabric for a little dress to go with this. Perhaps for birthday #2 in April ?
wool is Peruvian Wool and Baby Alpaca

and because naked needles are no good, I have started a hat for one of my boys. He asked me for something to keep his dreadlocks in. I'm happy to oblige. Trust me.

FLY AWAY HOME
Back in November, it was my turn to ask for blocks from the ladies in the Bee Purposeful group. I have always liked a quilt I saw over at Film in the Fridge so I asked them to send me flying geese blocks.
The other day after I got the last of the blocks in the mail, I layed them all out on my floor and arranged them this way and that.
When I first had them arranged, I thought the quilt was very yellow. I know that a little yellow goes a long way in a quilt so I was a bit worried. Now when I look at it, I see plum!
All of these blocks came to me from the States except for the five that I made. After a bit of quilting these geese will be flying back home to Corey where she will use it to help raise funds for her Church's mission work : )
Have a great day!
