Knitting Fun

Recently I made Scarlet a little dress and a matching sweater. (posted again for Deanna)

Yesterday, Twist of Fate was open for the last time.  I wandered down and picked out some beautiful red yarn.  It is a mix of cotton and wool.  Look how well it matches the new Kate Spain Christmas print.  I'm thinking a little red dress and pinafore, with a matching sweater for the little Miss.

I'm not having any fun being a grandma.  Nope. None at all  : )

New Arrivals

The delivery man stopped by today and brought some new Moda fabrics as well as some other fabrics.
The first line is "Jovial" from BasicGrey.

We also got  in Kate Spain's new line called "Flurry"

The jellyrolls are "Grace" by 3 sisters.  Beautiful.

There is another line, but I will post a picture of that in a day or two when I get pictures.
See you soon.

Once More

Donna, from Nova Scotia,  (Hi Donna!) asked me if I would re-post the quilts that I had finished.  Fresh flowers was the  last one I posted about  and "Funky Strings" is the header for this blog.  The other one I finished this summer was Jake's quilt.

Jake is 24 today.  I was 24 when I had him.  I'll let you do the math :)    Happy Birthday Jake

JULY

This is what most of our summer has looked like.  Pretty dreary and very little heat.  Oh well, maybe next month.  Remember this quilt?

The fabric line is called "Fresh Flowers".  I did this quilt out of a jellyroll.  We also got in a panel that went with the line.  At the time, I didn't do anything with it.

Hmmmmm, what to do, what to do.  Well, how about some fun pot holders?

I fused some steam=a=seam to the back of the flower then cut it out.  I traced around a plate, about 9", onto a bright fabric, then fused the flower down.  I top-stitched the flower with matching thread.   The inside has insul-bright and one layer of cotton batting.
I practiced some different quilting designs to fill in the area.

I did tiny pebbles in this one because they're fun.  I didn't start out to make them this small, but I was so tense!

The binding is black with all those bright flowers on it.  Pure Fun.

Oh, and does anyone know what this is?  Is it garlic, or a type of onion? It comes up everywhere!

STARTING OVER

Here we go again.  I have been blogging for nearly a year now on another site.  Unfortunately someone found it entertaining to hack the site twice.  I haven't noticed that people on this host have a lot of problems, so I am starting again here.  Hopefully this works out.

My hubby and I recently celebrated our 25th anniversary.  We took a little road trip to where we spent our honeymoon.  Things have sure changed. This is overlooking Osoyoos, B.C.

No road trip is complete without a trip to a quilt shop -- or seven. First up is a little shop in Oliver, that used to be Miss Molly's.  It's now Heathers Threadz.  I was surprised at her selection. Hers is the shop on the left.

Also in Oliver is Wine Country Quilts.  A very tiny shop that even has a long-arm !

I visited a few in Kelowna as well.  Lastly, we stopped at Pleasant Valley Quilting in Armstrong.

Across the street is the historic Armstrong Hotel.  Isn't it pretty? I would love to stay for a night if they are still taking visitors.

I still think we have one of the nicest quilt shoppes right here in Kamloops, at Katja's .  The selection is amazing, and the samples are finished.  So much nicer to see a finished quilt rather than just a top.
Always nice to get away, but always nice to come home.
