Mary asked for vintage looking blocks with a low volume background. She specified 30's prints and I just happened to have a few
Sheila asked for a Snowflake block.
Oh. My. Word.
Some strip piecing,
then slicing,
then sewing back together to make this,
far from perfect, but done!
These are the flying geese that are coming to my house for a charity quilt. My sewing room felt 10 degrees warmer when I put these up on the wall
and for the Humility group I made star blocks. Sandra asked for beach colours. I think they look great in the sparkling
After all that, I wanted some easy piecing where I didn't have to think too much and made a few economy blocks that I've seen popping up on line. This is a good use of little scraps that I think will be a fun baby quilt.
...........glad you think so dear. Dinner may be late : )

Oh, all these blocks are so lovely. I love your honesty with that 12 x 10ish block. It is a beauty. Our dinner is always late...lol and we are all going to be the cutest. :)
LOL! Love that last little tidbit of fabric!
I love all of your blocks! That snowflake is amazing and looks like it required some effort - I think it looks perfect.
So much prettiness! I was just admiring the flying geese on Flick'r and I am in awe of your snowflake! And if only all our husbands thought like Mr. Right in the last photo! LOL!

That snowflake block is gorgeous! I love all the blocks, but that one is my favourite. And perfect is over-rated (though yours looks pretty close).
The snowflake block is amazing *_* All of the blocks are beautiful but the snowflake is my favorite from all.
Lots of inspiration as usual! Love the snow flake block. Lots of fun!

My, you've been busy! Love your snowflake block! I was so glad to have met you at Katja's last week - I've enjoyed reading your blog for some time.
LOVE your snowflake block! I've not seen that one before and it would make a wonderful quilt! Everything is gorgeous but that one is tops in my book! You did a great job on it!
I love the snowflake block, but if I chose that as a group project in my local sewing group, no one would speak to me again. Ever.
I've not seen it before and it is lovely.
So much warm beauty! I love the vintage-y ones. Okay, I actually love them ALL. That snowflake is astounding; I've never seen anything like it before. You quilters are an incredible bunch!
All gorgeous, as always! I've decided and undecided a zillion times on what block I will have the ladies in my bee do for me. . .ive still got some time :)
What a busy girl you have been making all of those gorgeous blocks....you must be really cute!!
What a lovely collection of blocks! WOW - lots of beautiful quilts-to-be!
Fantastic blocks Carla. I especially like the snowflake one. Greetings from a very wet UK! Philippa xx
I love these blocks - all so fifferent. The snowflakes are my favourites but I also love the geese.
Wow-that snowflake block-yikes! I think I would have run the other way, but it looks awesome! Such a wide variety in this post I had to keep scrolling up and down so I could take it all in. I like those economy blocks everyone is making. I might have a dig through my stash to look for some cute center pieces.

Such beautiful blocks of inspiration! That snowflake block is mesmerizing'ish'!!!!
Those are a whole bunch of pretty blocks! I like the snowflake block best, though it's one I hope to never need to make! You convinced me! But yours is sure pretty. I'm trying hard to avoid catching Economy Block fever. Life is full enough without saying yes to one more thing. I'll enjoy yours vicariously.
Beautiful, quilts and I enjoy your blog.
I am a grandma to 6 lovelies, how do you have time to get soooo much done?
I manage to get knitting in everyday but certainly not sewing or quilting.
Any suggestions for this frozen gramma in Saskatoon Sk.

Hi Tammy. I tried to reply to your comment but you are 'no reply' because you have a google+ account. I do a little sewing almost every day . I have a sewing room so everything is left out and I can putter when I have the time : )
Today I had a chance to go into the Big City (Los Angeles) to be with my sister while her husband went through a chemo treatment. She asked me if I were stopping by a quilt store on the way in. Nope, I said, I have enough fabric.
But after reading your blog post, I realize that I probably never need to buy fabric--what I need to do is Stay Home and Sew! I love how you've inspired me to get a few things done with all your fabulous blocks. A really lovely line-up.
And congrats on being one of Debbie's 31 Inspirational Quilters on Sew Mama Sew. I was smiling from ear to ear when I saw your post!

I see how you can see everyday. I have my sewing set up in the basement in our walk out area so I hate leaving a mess. I only have a spare bedroom where I could put my sewing. Thanks for answering me so quickly.
I am in the Simply Solids bee in a different group and was pretty impressed when I saw those snowflakes blocks appearing. Our group has had some issues, pretty sure if someone had asked for that they'd only have gotten 2-3 back!
wowee! that snowflake block is gorgeous!
The fabric in that last block is the best!
