A couple of months ago on a road trip I picked up this pattern. I figured it would be a quick knit that I could still use this season. Well............it's finished just in time for the warmer weather. Oh well,
next winter : )
The shawl collar is created by knitting short rows which was a new technique for me.
I'm quite happy with how it turned out.
buttons are by 2 Good Claymates
A new line of fabric came into the shop. Color Me Happy by V and Co.
Have you noticed how so many of the new lines have turquoise and grey in them? They work so well with the X and + blocks I am making for my swap. I think Katja knows I'm weak too. This little FQ bundle came home with me.
A couple of weeks ago while hubby was going over receipts, he said to me "you know, we could have been rich---but along came quilting!"
Sorry dear : /

That shawl collar is absolutely gorgeous and the colour is so rich. It will be perfect for the autumn. Talking of rich, I hope you pointed out to your husband that you are rich - rich in happiness. I always counter my husband's argument with the number of tools he buys, and cars, and computers. We all have our little vices. Philippa xx
LOL! I always tell my hubby, better quilting than therapy. Besides, he's got expensive hobbies too.
Beautiful cowl!
I love the shawl collar is lovely, Carla, good colour choice and the buttons are perfect!
I would tell hubby that a happy wife is worth any price! Happy wife, Happy life! LOL
Bliss is such a sweet man, gotta love him. lol. Love the cowl!
I LOVE that cowl! That is beautiful.
Turquoise and gray are really wonderful together.
Who is the cowl pattern by? Love it. Need to have my DIL make me one.
That is such a cute cowl pattern! And I love the yarn & buttons you've used for yours :) My husband and yours could tell a few stories I'm sure!!!
I just saw these fabrics yesterday at my LQS! They were getting cut up for bundles and I feel in love with the right in the middle. Green leave and red dots, loved it!
That cowl turned out really nice Carla and it looks so cozy. The buttons go really well on it as well!
That cowl is so chic!! You will be all set for autumn!
Tee Hee, your hubby and my hubby could start a support group! ;-)
Love that little bundle of fabric, and your cowl is just fab - well done.
Happy Wednesday!
Xx
Who needs money accumulating in the bank anyway!! The acquisition of fabric and wool (and books) is so much better fun!! I love your collar, 'tis very chic...and the buttons are gorgeous. I envy you working in a patchwork shop...you lucky gal getting first pickings of those lovely fabrics!!
The cowl is beautiful, love the colours and of course the buttons. Oh a Bliss, just look what your incredible wife makes with all the fabric, and how inspirational she is to others. Dave says to same thing to me, but solved that when I said YES to his 1930 Model A hot rod.....
Love the cowl, and the buttons are perfect, x
Haha, your husband should be glad you have a hobby which keeps you home, you could have done rock climbing or something.
Love that cowl and the buttons on it. My hubby can't complain. He has many more hobbies than I do, and he is always 'needing' stuff for those camping/hiking/backpacking/etc hobbies.
That cowl is pretty. I bet it keeps your neck warm. Is it meant to go under a coat? Or would someone wear it just like this? Sure like knowing your hubs is the same as mine. About 18 months ago, for the first time in my life, I opened my own spending account. Money goes in from teaching and writing, and money goes out for fabric and fabric and fabric. Oh, and a new FMQ sewing machine foot that's due to arrive in a day or so. It's nice to keep it all close to the vest... err, close to the cowl?!
Your cowl is gorgeous! Especially with the buttons. Maybe I can convince my friend Erin to knit me one. LOL. I bet those turquoise and grey fabrics would make pretty POTC blocks!!! I am awful! Aren't I??!!
your cowl is very pretty and yes, that is a nice stack of fabric.
Love the cowl! And your hubby's comment is so funny! I am sure my husband feels the same.
The knitting is great ! Really ? You let him see the receipts? Brave woman!!!
Your shawl has turned out beautifully and it'll be great to have it ready as soon as the weather cools down again :)
I adore the shawl collar cowl. Are you able to give me the pattern details, so I am able to see if I can get it in New Zealand or via the internet. Many thanks
I really love that shawl collar!! Beautiful! I've done short rows on heels of socks. Works very nicely.
