I started with finishing up the X and + blocks for Cindy. I thought these were my last four, but I need to make one more set.
Choosing fabrics is always fun
Here are this months blocks for the Friendship swap
.......and all the blocks so far. I think we are all going to try to have our quilts done for September.
This photo is for Kim. I've been encouraging her to try knitting a sock. She does amazing things with wool and I just know she would find these fun!
The heel flap has been made and the heel turned. Now to pick up side stitches and I am home free !
Over the Easter week end, Hubby designed and built an amazing garden box. He enlisted a couple of the boys to help.
It started with ripping up the old one
son #4 has barely taken his hat off since I finished it : ) |
then they started building the new one and before long, Voila!
Today I planted some things. Hubby designed it with a sort of 'hip' going all the way around where I put strawberries. The top will hold all the veggies. So looking forward to all that fresh food.
All in all a perfect day.

The quilt is looking really pretty and the planting box is amazing. It's funny what our kids "never take off", isn't it? The thing we think they'll latch onto is not usually what catches their eye. Oh well. A win is a win!
wow your quilt is so lovely, I really need to do this block myself soon
isn't it great when it all comes together xx well done to you .. and the gardeners x

Great job on the new garden bed, a perfect way yo grow the strawberries. I love your friendship quilt, the colours are so fresh.... Another amazing week Carla, I am in ahhhh again!
Your blocks are so pretty! As I was looking at them, I noted that some of the blocks have darker (gray) values. Have you thought about arranging them with the darks in the center, and gradually placing the lighter value blocks toward the outside edges? It might be fun to experiment.
I love all those colours in the friendship quilt, its so cheerful. Great garden box too
Those blocks are beautiful. Loving your raised veggie bed. We also grow our own veg and there is nothing better than eating the rewards of your hard labour. Enjoy, x
Lots of fun going on at your place! Love that quilt, so cool. We are still waiting for the weather to let us outside. Temps still in single digits. Planted a few shrubs that i over wintered in pots and that is about it. Have a good one!

The quilt is really coming together and as always looks fantastic. I love the colour choices. And your raised veg patch is wonderful. How lovely that your boys helped and did a great job. Philippa xx
I will knit some socks....I really, really will....some day. I shall add it to my 'to do' list, shall I. Your blocks are looking great...and that garden bed....how wonderful does that look. There is nothing like eating fresh produce from your garden. Did I espy your son wearing the knitted hat?? Doesn't look as if he is going to take it off anytime soon!! It takes his 'dreads' to another dimension!!
