Over a year ago, I was involved in an on-line swap of low volume charm squares. It was a lot of fun getting them in the mail. I used them to make a Plus quilt after seeing one of Rachel's on Flickr. I got a top done, but loved the look of it so much I knew that it needed to be just a bit bigger. When I cut the packages of charms at work, I took one home and used them in the quilt almost immediately. They are so handy to just grab and sew---no measuring!
I used bright scraps for the pluses so they would pop. I thought it would be interesting to see what a black and white shot looked like with such a mix of background fabrics. Kind of cool.
Linda quilted this one for me. I wanted texture and she wanted to try out this quilting design. We are both happy with the result : ) The binding is a text print called Wordplay.
One last shot. I've decided I will never be a photographer. I didn't notice all the tents in the background until I uploaded this picture onto the computer. Duh !
my first finish on the list for quarter 3 of the Finish Along (list)

The black and white photo is very cool. Lovely quilt Carla.
That looks fabulous! I think I spy my charms there ;-)
Wow! It's GORGEOUS. It's because of you that I've learned what low volume means...just as it's because of you that I'm utterly smitten by low volume quilts. This one is STUNNING!
Luv. I was in that swap. Thnx for the inspiration.
Love your quilt and the colours are fab, x
You do such beautiful quilts. I like the colors you chose and you're right, the crosses POP!
I didn't notice the tents until you pointed them out. Nice quilt.
It's a lovely quilt- a simple design very effectively executed!
I really like how this turned out...beautiful!
I loved watching your progress thru the year!
Carla, this is fantastic! Really love the combination of so many different low-volume fabrics with the bright pluses. The mix is so striking and intriguing to look at. Congrats on a wonderful first finish for Q3!
beautiful .. gotta love a swap x
Congrats! This is a stunning finish - and gorgeous photos :)
Beautiful quilt, I love it! I'm just quilting something similar, but each square is the same size. Can't wait to do something with the charms you sent me, they are such a wonderful selection. Thank you again!
Such a perfect quilt! The low volume background adds such interest while the pluses add color without it being overwhelming. Love that quilting!
Oooo, I like this, a lot!
Just fabulous! I love it! I need to make myself one of these very soon.
I love the design and the wavy quilting lines.
You could certainly be a photographic location scout.
It's wonderful. I'm still collecting low volume but just haven't put them to use yet.
This is just beautiful!
It's beautiful Carla! I really love the quilting too!
This is a beautiful finish!
I love this pattern! Every time I see a version of it I fall in love a bit more with it. Your colours are lovely.
Your quilt is very pretty, I love the low volumes!!
Carla, I am in love with your quilt....am adding it to my list! Low volume has become a favorite of mine and I've always liked the crosses. The quilting is perfect and modern....oh, and I like the tents too!!
I like the B and W photo. It helps to see the textures which is cool. I was not as brave when I did my top just two BG. Next one maybe. Like Lindas quilting (of course)!
Love the quilt, love the quilting. Beautiful!!
Gorgeous quilt!! Love love the low volume effect! I think your pics look great too btw:)
Love it!
oh my goodness, I love this quilt!!! your bright pops of color are just perfect! nicely done. I also appreciate the black and white photo that shows the values. so interesting to see!
thanks for linking up to finish it up Friday!
just perfect!!!
Beautiful! I love the layout!
so pretty, the pops of color against the low volumes are wonderful
I also love the quilting -- and it's appropriate next to the lake as it looks like ripples of water. Very cute! Oh and all those tents, they just bring out the white in your quilt! ;)
This is such a lovely quilt!!! Love the low volume prints for the background against the colorful plus fabrics. Great quilting design too.
I love this quilt! I really like how those "plusses" jump out because of the way it was quilted. My quilter uses this pattern on many of my quilts (if you do it edge-to-edge on a computerized machine, the pattern is called Cool Water) and I've used the same meandering on some quilts I've done. So effective.
Great finish!
Elizabeth
Every time I see a beautiful Plus quilt, I want to make one. No exception this time!
I have never done a cross quilt. This is just beautiful!
I can't believe I haven't told you yet that I love it.
