A FINISHED X AND PLUS QUILT

This quilt started last fall when Cindy contacted me about being her partner for an x and + swap that Carla and Susan were starting. I immediately said yes and we set about choosing our colour palette. I couldn't find our inspiration picture when writing this post, but perhaps Cindy will have it.

We decided on 64 blocks. Each month we made 4 pair of blocks. 4 to keep and 4 to trade.  It was so much fun getting them in the mail each month because her fabrics were so different from mine  : )
Today is the day for the reveal

My quilt

The blocks were sewn together randomly which resulted in some lighter areas but that's ok. I had fun just grabbing the next block and sewing it on.
While quilting this, I was thinking of where I might go for a little photo shoot. I knew of a small waterfall that my son has taken pictures of and I asked him if he could take me there.  His reply was "I think you could make it"

So...........channeling my inner 'mountain goat',  off we went.

There is much less water right now so we didn't get too wet.......

Seeing as how we traded blocks every month, I knew when I saw this fabric that it would make the perfect backing. It's called  '8 days a week' by Windham fabrics. The binding is a scrappy mix of leftover turquoise bits.

I'm super happy that I joined in this swap. I just love this quilt! Thank you Cindy for being such an awesome partner.

I'm linking up today with Lollyquiltz where you can see more x and + quilts made by others who partnered up

Oh, Carla it's just spectacular!!!! The mix of your blocks and Cindy's are perfect, and it's great that you randomly chose blocks for assembling. I love seeing another beautiful photo shoot location. Your son is a good sport.

Oh, Carla, this turned out just as lovely as I thought it would! How clever that you and Cindy chose the perfect backing for this monthly swap quilt. Your photo shoot was a great outing...isn't that part just so much fun! I love your quilt. Thanks for joining me and Susan. We should do it again sometime!

Beautiful quilts and lovely photo shoot too. I think I need to take a stack of quilts out to the state park and get creative.

Such a beautiful quilt. I love having my own. Did you do your quilt label yet? Did you see that Susan and Carla also swapped labels? I think we should do that as well. :)As usual, GORGEOUS photos! I couldn't do that if I tried, if only for the reason that we have no water in California right now. So sad...

I was thinking of you while I tried to photograph my quilt Carla! Being a city girl I really only have children's playgrounds to choose from, and seeing it is Spring break, everywhere I went there were crowds of people! Love your photos and your quilts is just delightful! The colours are just what I love- blues and greens are a favourite of mine! What a fun experience this was!

I love how the pattern fades in and out, depending on the strength of the fabrics. Great quilt, and a wonderful spot for photos!

WOW, that quilt is beautiful and the pictures...well, I love that you found that mountain goat inside. Worth the climb, for sure. If this partnership is wrong, I would never want to be right. LOVE IT!!

Oh, you take my breath away! Not only is the quilt a thing of amazing beauty, so is the site where you were able to photograph it (and many thanks to your son). I put a line-up of all of the finished quilts (I checked our Flickr page) on my blog just now, and we are a pretty impressive group!

I love the colors that you and Cindy chose and think your quilt(s) spectacular finishes!

Mountain goats never had to carry a quilt as well as watch their footing!
The colours you and Cindy chose make this quilt. They blend so nicely that sewing the blocks together randomly works just perfectly.
I had better go take a peek at Cindy's quilt!

What an amazing collaboration - the finished product is so beautiful (those colours are my favs). Glad to see you made it up and down safely - you don't want to be carried to hospital in your own quilt!

Love the colors, they almost seem to blend, then fade, then pop. The backing fabric choice is perfect.
Beautiful!
