SUMMER KNITS

Just like gorgeous fabric, I have a hard time restraining myself when it comes to luscious yarn.  While away this summer, I indulged in some new yarns.

I have to say, this is THE nicest sock yarn ever. I fell in love with this little sock pattern I saw over on  Instagram, and cast on right away. So cute. The free pattern is here

Then at the opposite end of the scale, I was asked to make a couple of big knit blankets for baby photo props.  Just look at the size compared to the socks

Size 19mm ( 35 US ) needles and the yarn is Bernat Mega Bulky.  Super soft and a quick knit

I got the plum colour in Fernie, and the grey in Canmore, Alberta
Finished and gifted.

Have a wonderful week end.

I buy more yarn than fabric these days it seems! I love that sock pattern and I am sure to knit them again in a different yarn! I am restraining myself while I finish up rosette 4 tho!

Just sent the sock pattern to my knitty sister in hopes of getting a pair for christmas. Love your projects.

The contrast between the two yarns and the two projects is striking. Those socks are going to be fun, and I do love those baby blankets!

Your sock yarn is beautiful and the pattern is great - such a sweet design. And the baby blankets are fab - they must be the quickest baby knit ever and they look really snug :)

Beautiful!! Believe it or not, my husband loves to knit socks, but he hasn't done it in years!

Definitely very cute socks, they look addictive. Do you prefer the slip stitch heel for wearing?

It's great to see what you're knitting. I used to be into knitting - when we lived in Wisconsin - but now that we're in Florida, I can't bring myself to do it, except to knit dish cloths. It's nice to see what you're doing, and that in a few short months, you'll be able to enjoy them. Happily, I will not! :-)

That sock yarn does look beautiful. It is in my favourite colours and do I read correctly that it is a silk blend? Decadence!
The pattern name reminds me of the Bay City Rollers, a band popular in the 70s. Now I will be humming their songs all day!
