and the tedious binding made more fun with matching nails!
Then it was off to try and get pictures. We've been having crazy changing weather lately so it was hard to get good light. One thing about having a large family, there is always someone around willing (?) to come on a photo shoot with Mom : )
Done! This is finish 4 and 5 for quarter two of the finish along. Original list is here
48 x 68
fabrics are layer cake squares and scraps
pieced and quilted by me
backing and binding is 'Here Fishy Fishy" by Henry Glass
"In tragic news today, three people were attacked by an unexpected crocodile at the river's edge. The trio had been engaged in a dangerous new trend authorities are calling 'quilt snapping'. More on this story coming up at 11..."
Love the pair of them! These could have gotten really busy but those framed prints anchor them perfectly. That quilting is lovely...Someday, I will be able to do a flower. It's not tomorrow, but it will happen more certainly than a BC croc attack. :-)
I love the previous comment. Too funny. Yes, I don't think you are in any danger from crocodiles, but the cuteness police might come any minute. Love both the quilts!
I love these two. What a great use of fabrics, the large prints are highlighted beautifully. I will keep this idea in mind for future projects!
i love what citric sugar said! and having just recently found your blog, the quilts are totally delightful, and i love the photo shoots being a photographer wannabe as well! the prints in the quilts are very charming, too.
They are lovely and seem perfect for a beach house. I have similar type fabrics that have been sitting waiting to be used. Thank you for the inspiration.
Lol @citric sugar!
I think 'back abit and just a bit more' needs to be said during that last photo shoot :-)
Both are fab quilts and will look great in situ.
You loathing doing the back binding is so like me but using matching nail varnish is genius!
What lovely quilts! I'll send you my snail mail addy so you can get mine in the mail.....giggle.
Love those quilts. So cute and girly!!
Such fun photos and even funnier comment from Citric Sugar! Lovely work Carla- your quilted flowers are the perfect finish!
Absolutely charming quilts! Your photos are beautiful!
Great Aunt Carol's beach play house is going to sing with your gorgeous quilts...oh...and yes, everyone should make it compulsory to have matching nail polish when stitching a quilt!!
Crocodiles ... In BC!? Should I rethink my September trip to visit the in-laws? :)
I love your FMQ flowers on these pretty quilts.
Those are so, so pretty Carla! They will be so perfect in the beach cabin. That design is really great for showing off large scale fabrics too.
Beautiful quilts Carla, love the colours, and the backing, binding, and your nail colour. And your photo location, perfect!
I really like these so much!
Awesome Carla! Love the birdies that I see. What a nice pressy and will look nice in a little shed turned cabin. So clean and fresh looking.
Oh, I love them! Nice work!
I LOVE your nail polish--do you happen to know what it is?
I love the quilts too. :) Lucky girls to get such wonderful quilts for a playhouse!
Congratulations on finish 4 & 5!!! Fabulous! BC Crocodiles LOL!
Gorgeous quilts, just perfect for a beach house
Fab finishes, and I love the 'crocodile' shot of the 2 quilts. Here's to coordinating our nail polish with our bindings :)
Okay, Citric Sugar's comment totally cracked me up. Yep, it really does get one thinking of crocodiles! Made me nervous for those daredevil quilt snappers.
And your quilts - WOW!!!!! They will be a stunning addition to the beach house.
Congrats on the finish- they turned out so pretty! I love the quilting and the matching nails, too!
They are really charming , lovely colour scheme and I do like the block design too.
I always appreciate the locations of your photo shoots but please don't scare us by venturing into dangerous unchartered territories again. We don't want your talents to be lost to a hungry croc.
OK! Someone after my own heart! Can I say you had me at the "finger nail polish"! Love the clean fresh look of your quilts--they are great!
Love the pair and love the nails. Very festive to say the least. Love the first comment..we will do about anything to get a good quilt pic!
Now that is the height of class - to match nails and binding. this has to become the must have fashion accessory of all quilters! Oh, and the quilts are great too!
Hi!!!! They are very pretty!!! Keep them safe from those crocodiles!!!!
Love them! and your quilting is wonderful!!
These are adorable! The quilting is lovely! What a nice addition to your Aunt's house! Crocodiles???
I love this post as much as I love your nails, Carla! Are we going to get to see the quilts in the beach house? Hope so!
I love these quilts. So simple and fresh. Also, it's late but I'm going now to buy your nail polish!
Absolutely stunning.Love them, x
Cute quilts, and color coordinated nail polish while you bind, too.
What fabulous finishes! Yes, they will look wonderful in the little play house. A sweet way to make a little house a home! Love the binding. Really frames those beauties nicely!
i like how your nail matched the binding
Love it all, the crocodile, the quilts, and the polish. I have that same bird fabric sitting in the cupboard. I'm inspired to do something with it now!
Great finish : )
Really sweet Carla. Love the quilting too.
You're lucky to have quilt-holder-uppers! I have quilt-holder-downers :) and no chance of crocodiles. LOL. I really did laugh out loud when I saw your finger nails and the binding!
Beautiful! Love the coordinated nails!
What beautiful quilts. I almost bought some nail polish that color the other day. I think it looks fabulous! Very beachy...
Citric Sugar's comment made me laugh! I love those quilts, but I have to confess to also loving those aqua nails! Fabulous!
Glad you weren't eaten by a croc. Or your quilt holders, either.
