WHY NOT? WEDNESDAY

Today, I thought why not show you a few things I did before I started blogging.  The two pillows are from several years back.  This first one was inspired by one of my favourite words---REJOICE! A good reminder for me to always be thankful.

This next little one was made out of a pre-printed panel.  I embroidered over the lines.  The topiary trees are filled in with french knots.  A bazillion of them : )

You know the old saying "build it and they will come" ?  I made this quilt in the hopes that I would have a grand baby to snuggle in it.  Well, it worked.  My daughter-in-law chose a different quilt for her little one though.  Oh well, I am anticipating lots more babies.  Someone will want it.

This was my first attempt at free motion quilting.  I just did a little around the prams.

Not too bad I guess. Oh, I won something!  Cindy from Live a Colorful Life, had a give-away a month or so ago.  I won without even answering her question.  I didn't try because I never win. I did however leave a comment, and the random generator thingy chose me. Yay!  I won two charm packs that I am sure will come in handy for baby quilts or something.  Thanks Cindy.

Have a wonderful day.

THE "WEE" THINGS

I have always loved little things.  Not miniatures per say, just cute little things. These little hexagons were started years ago.  They measure 3/8" along one edge.  At first, I was thinking a queen size quilt would be lovely.  Then I started piecing.  I then thought maybe a pillow would be more do-able.  Now with a new grandbaby coming, I'm thinking of a quilt for the little cradle I still have from when I was a baby.

Sometimes I forget why I stop working on some projects.  Bigger things take over I guess.

A few weeks back I went to a huge craft fair that happens here every year.  I picked up 2 of these little gift purses.  They are perfect for earrings, money, or some little treasure.  Why didn't I get a dozen!

This is a little sewing kit that a co-worker gave me. The little spools are not even an inch high.

Also, another 6" block from the farmers wife book. This was an easy one I chose for today. (I still managed to get a piece in wrong.  You can see where I picked it out)

Enjoy the rest of your day.

FAMERS WIFE FRIDAY

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a six inch block is supposed to take two hours to piece------or trigger a migraine.  That's the culprit on the left.

There are 32 pieces in that little darling.  Never again.  My other blocks that I'm working on are coming together nicely.  They are huge, so they go together much quicker.

I'm off to get started on some Christmas shopping now.  Talk soon :)

WHY NOT? WEDNESDAY

I finished Scarlet's Christmas sweater.  I had the buttons made for it.  They are just what I wanted, but a bit big for the button holes.  Oh well. I'll make them fit.

The pattern is a Debbie Bliss.  I love her kid knits, however she usually makes them wide. Perhaps she thinks all our babies are rollie pollies!  The bell sleeves are what I fell for on this sweater.  Now to make the dress.

Why not a new start?  Christmas is coming and I'm thinking a fun little wall hanging might be a quick project.

Also, Lorraine asked that I  re-post the fabrics I chose for the mystery quilt. Hope this helps.  As well are steps 1 and 2.  Little half square triangles and 9-patches.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

MODA RECAP

Today was a good day.  We had a good turnout and lots of show and tell.  Thanks ladies to everyone who came,  and for those of you who helped inspire us.

First up are the 3 projects I featured, then the show and tell:

I didn't get a pic of this last month because I was helping hold it. Sorry Ro!

Okay, so that's it for this time.  I am off to look after my little granddaughter tonight.

LITTLE GATHERINGS

I think all the ladies are on their way to Moda club so it should be safe to show this. They will see it in a couple of hours anyway.   This is a line called Little Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings, for Moda. This line features little prints in all sorts of wonderful designs.

This is what I did with it.

Yes, that's snow falling .  Hubby was a good sport.
More later today, after the meetings.

WHY NOT? WEDNESDAY

After hours and hours of piecing,  I finally have the tops together.  Following are a couple of peeks at what I am bringing to Moda club on Saturday.

another little mug rug

and the why not portion of this post?  I bought this fabric on our road trip.  I don't know why.  I guess I thought it was kind of different.

The dragonfly measures about 12" across.  The panel is huge.  Of course I had to get a bit of the coordinating print.  One day I just might get asked for a bug quilt.  Who knows?

That's it .  That's all you're gonna get : )   I will post on Saturday and show the quilts, as well as the show and tell the ladies bring.

SOME FARMING

Yesterday was a day to rest and recharge.  I sewed for a bit and worked on my farmers wife blocks.  I got three more done.

#9  Box            not my favourite, but it will be okay in the quilt.  I will probably never find it.

#10  Bowtie

#11 Broken Dishes      I love this one. Reminds me of chintz dishes.

....and one more photo just because

I will be back Wednesday with a little sneak peek at what I am bringing to Moda club on Saturday.  Still a lot of sewing to do so I will have pedal to the floor for the next couple of days.
