INTRODUCING...........KNIT2 YARNS !

After months of planning, painting, and purchasing, I am ready to open Monday morning.  To say I won't sleep tonight may be an understatement.  I'm excited for tomorrow : )

This post could have been named 'Ode to Mrs. McArthur'.  When I was in grade three, my teacher Mrs. McArthur said, that when we were done our work for the day, we could come sit by her desk and she would teach us how to knit. Well I didn't need to be asked twice!  Myself and a handful of others took her up on her offer.  Little did she know the gift she was giving me.  I wonder if she ever thought of the children and grand children that I would be knitting for some 45 years later.  I get all weepy thinking of her. I wonder how many more children she shared this gift with after I moved on to the next grades. How many before me had she taught?   I knit all through elementary school until I hit my teen years and decided it wasn't cool anymore.  Not until the doctor looked at me and said 'your pregnant' did I pick up the needles again.  I had such fun knitting for all my babies and now my grand babes.  So my dear Mrs. McArthur, thank you.  Thank you for the gift of knitting, for endless hours of relaxation, and for the gift of this little shop I get to spend my future years at.  You will never know how much I appreciate you taking the time to share with me your talent.  You were my favourite teacher : )

and now a few photos of inside

I've got a table for you to sit at and knit : )

lots of different sock yarns

and a look in

First off, thank you God who was always one step ahead of me preparing the way.  Thank you also to my wonderful hubby, who without him, this couldn't happen.  My family who came without being asked, to paint and organize and price yarn by the box load!  I love you.

Enjoy your week.  I think it's going to be a busy one!!

Some teachers teach how to do math, or science, and some teacher teach us 'life' lessons, beyond the classroom. Your Mrs. McArthur sounds like the latter. The space looks GREAT!!!! If I were closer, I'd come take a class.

It looks wonderful. I hope you have many happy years there. Me? I'd rather sit on a couch than at a table. In comfort is where I knit oh so slowly. My mom taught me. I love the idea of a teacher being more than just a teacher of 'readin, writin' and arithmetic.' Mrs. McArthur certainly was a special lady.

I do hope you'll hang the story of your teacher in the store - it's important to share and be reminded of our inspirations. I'm sure she would love to see what you've done with the store as it's fabulous! Love the wall bins and the suitcases and the samples! If only i were a knitter and didn't live on the other side of the continent!! The best of luck to you!!

What a beautiful and stylish shop. I'm not a knitter but for someone wanting to venture into this craft as well as established knitters then this will surely entice you in. The best of luck with your new shop.

Thanks for the tour around your shop! It looks fabulous! Wishing you a wonderful Opening Day! Don’t forget to enjoy and to look around you! Such an achievement!

Great teachers can determine your life, that’s for sure. I had a wonderful teacher in English in Highschool and it has become kind of my second language. I had a teacher in Music who made me develop my own music taste.

Oh my goodness... I don't even know where to start!! It's truly perfection! Each photo had me "oohing" more than the last... I don't think I could imagine a more perfect place to shop, or knit, or visit. I can't wait to "watch" it evolve. And that story about your teacher?! Oh my goodness, my heart. There are very few like her in this world. What an amazing start to this story. We'll be thinking of you today!

PS - I showed the boys since they are home today and S said "that looks like it would be dangerous to your wallet!" He's 100% right. :)

Well done on creating such a wonderful and calming wool shop. I remember seeing your earlier photos of the painting sessions and wondered how it would all turn out. I love all the coloured wool, especially the variegated - something I have knitted with many times in the past and great for baby cardigans. I hope your first day of trading went well.

Oh my goodness, Carla!! SO exciting!!! As I am late in reading this, you have already been open 5 days now, and I imagine you are feeling both exhilarated and exhausted right about now.

How wonderful that you had a Mrs McArthur!! What a gift (that you have used ever so joyfully and wisely)

I thought of you last week: My just turned 7 year old had been asking about learning to knit, and on Monday and Tuesday, the *asking* turned into *HOUNDING* me to please let her watch a youtube video. It turned out that she had trouble learning from a video (as I suspected...) so *I* learned to knit from the video, and then taught her. And then we taught her brother and sister. And then, this week at a family camp with some folks from our church, I taught what little I know to 2 more ladies ~ so - 6 new (very new!) knitters in the world :-)
I thought you would enjoy the story :-) Huge Congratulations on your store opening!!!

I was just SURE I had commented on this! Your store looks amazing. I'm not at all surprised at that because you have such a good eye for everything--color, design. I'm sure this is going to be a huge success. I wish it was just around the corner. I dream of having a little group that I can sit and knit with. That would be simply lovely. Best of luck.
