We are off on a short road trip again but before we left I made my bee blocks for April. Two of the three I had not made before so it was fun to try new things.
Debbie's block for the Mid Century Modern group--rolling diamonds
Quilt as you go herringbone strips for Nicke for Heal @do.good stitches 6 x 64
and a huge Swoon block for the Humility group @do.good stitches
Jaime asked for black and red with a dramatic black/white print. This is the most dramatic I had in my stash. I think it works
I finished my son's hat. Remember the one with the dreadlocks ?
It's from this magazine
It's called the 'woodcutter' hat
It doesn't quite enclose all those dreads...........
He loves it : )
Oh! Miss J stopped by. I changed her into her little outfit to try and get a picture. I knew it wouldn't happen on her actually birthday so.............
A perfect fit. Happy Gramma!!!!!!
As usual, you have been a busy little bee! The hat and the outfit are both great.
Carla, your grand daughter is absolutely lovely in her new spiffy outfit, kuddos to you!
Little Miss J looks so adorable, great sewing and knitting... The mid century block and your swoon are stunning. And your woodcutters hat looks great, he Could roll up the dreads, but it looks good, and I am sure he is thrilled that Mom made it for him. Another amazing post, you make me feel guilty that I don't get more done each month.....enjoy your trip!
Your blocks are really bright and cheerful. The hat is lovely like the pattern! And little miss J is so cute and the hat and cardigan looks lovely,
Great use of fabric in your rolling diamond block, and I agree that your black & white print is quite dynamic. For a minute there, I thought the hat was "the one with the dreadlocks), but I now see it's your son you were referring to. The little outfit looks even nicer on the model. How lovely!
Miss J looks adorable in her birthday presents!! Love the woodcutter hat and the bee blocks! Enjoy your trip!
Love the blocks and the 'dreadlock' hat and absolutely adore that outfit. Doesn't it just fit perfectly and she is beautiful. Well done Grandma, x
Success all round, I'd say! The whole outfit on miss J is very sweet! Now you can enjoy your little getaway knowing you are all caught up!
I just made that first block for another QAL.....:) All your blocks are great.
Love it! It's going to be a gorgeous quilt - Jaime

Your bee blocks all look terrific as does the knitted cap.
Yay Carla, some lovely makes, the red black and white is fab
Well done with the woodcutter hat Carla (I thought for a moment it was the hat that had the dreadlocks) and your granddaughter's outfit is simply gorgeous. Big smiles all round. Philippa xx

Are you gallivanting around the countryside....again!!'Tis a lucky gal, that you are. Oh, how sweet does your Miss J look...love that shot!! Dare I say, it....your woodcutter hat maketh the dreadlocks!!!
Great work Carla. I'm partial to knitting. I can't go a day without some form of it. Of course your quilting is lovely also.
That red and black block is stunning! Great hat for your son. Your granddaughter is cute as can be, especially in that lovely outfit you made her.
Miss J is adorable in her new outfit. Great cap for your son too.
Love seeing all the different blocks for your exchanges.
Sweet girlie. Such a cute outfit. Love those blocks too. Trying to get back on track.spebt the first few days back in a dream state. Oh what fun we had.
Wow! Miss J just took my breath away with her sweetness and that lovely outfit! Great job Gramma! And the hat looks perfect :) I love your bee blocks, especially the red/white/black - definitely dramatic!!!
what fun! Love my quilt block - thank you! And so sweet to see Miss J in her finery - nicely done gramma!
Love all the blocks you finished up before heading out. And I had forgotten what an amazing knitter you are--one of the young men in my class wears a hat similar to your son's, so it looked very familiar.
And that little dolly at the end, just takes my breath away!
O!M!G! To everything! Especially that beauty of a grand daughter in her very chic attire courtesy of you!
If that isn't dramatic red and black, I don't know what is. I think you followed the brief perfectly.
(I also adore the family outfits.)
