CRAZY EIGHTS

After piecing the quilt from my previous post, I thought I should really finish something on my UFO list. I looked around my sewing room and this quilt caught my eye.  It's not very big, so I figured it wouldn't take long.

In an effort to use what I had, I dug around for a suitable backing. It was just shy in width so I had to add a piece.  I seamed together 3 pieces of batting scraps, and the binding is made up of strips of the border fabric and a solid grey because I didn't have enough of either. Good grief, it's a wonder this got finished at all!

I quilted it a 1/4" on either side of the seams. I like the little square the quilting makes at the intersections.

The quilt is 45 x 52 and done  : )

Also I foundation pieced this little bee after seeing one at A Quilters Table. It's a free download from Badskirt. So cute!  I added some strips around it to bring it up to a block size I can use in my quilt.

.......and another one for Katja because she liked it. I need to embroider the antennae.

That's it for today. Have a great week!

You did well to get the quilt finished with bits and pieces! Others would have used that as an excuse to put it back in the WIPs pile! And your bees are 'the bees knees'!!!!

Love the UFO you finished...I find it challenging and fun to pull backing pieces from my stash. Usually it works out just fine! The backing you did is cool! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing the little "bee" pattern! I have a ton of friends who are "bee" crazy :*) And I love your quilt - you get extra credit for using up scrap pieces for the backing and batting and binding - you go girl!!!

I love that you put that quilt together from what you had in your sewing room! I love that kind of challenge--it's always easier to go find something new, but I think the challenge of using what we have makes the quilt more dear. Love the pieced back, too!

And those bees! Fabulous! Thanks for the link.

I would have thrown it back in the pile, but you hung with it and got it done. Way to go. It is lovely. I think those bees are so cute. Can't wait to see what you do with them.

I really like the way you quilted the little quilt. I also love the bee block. My 20 month old grandson is in love with bees, I think I'll make him a little nap quilt out of these blocks. Thanks for the link and the inspiration.

I LOVE my bee!
I've been playing around with a few bees inside a hexagon since I saw this one on Pinterest some time ago.
Maybe the bee from you will get me going!
Thanks so much Carla for my first bee! :)
